Commonground
Raven at Three Peaks
Ridge at Castle Pines North
Bear Dance
Red Hawk Ridge

Just returned from my first CO trip & played the above, stayed in Castle Rock. Great stuff. Generally would rate Raven, Ridge and Bear Dance as 'A's and the other A-/B+. Standout was the fast/true greens and the trees changing colors at Raven. Long drive from Castle Rock area, but beautiful & worth it. Close to Castle Rock, The Ridge and Bear Dance were fun, worth it. Commonground & Red Hawk Ridge were fine, just not much different than courses we play in/around So California, better conditions though.

Eats-wise, The Crave Real burger was great. Rockyard Brewery and Smashburger were good. Freddy's, SaWaRa sushi & Pho 777 were average.

Overall, the consensus from our 8-person group from California was that we'd definitely return to re-play and try new courses. Best of all, loved how the elevation seemed to make the ball fly long & straight.

We played the Raven 10 days ago, greens are about 15% bare ground and bouncy. True high altitude mountain golf has crappy grass as it doesn't get much of a chance to grow. Fairways had ridges of soggy grass from too much water. Bear Dance, The Ridge and Red Hawk all offer better grass conditions plus you can breath easily.

How did you guys do on #8 at Raven? I can't imagine anyone in your group would have the first clue of what to hit, especially if there was any wind. How did you guys like #9 tee shot?

[/quote]Luckily, they had a hit-the-green promo on 8, so worker gave us yardage. #9 left a bad taste, as I blewup on the hole (lost ball left off tee then dunked one right on approach). Best greens of the bunch by far.

I'm taking the rest of October off to take care of house stuff, except when I take my kids golfing. We went to the First Tee course at Wellshire the other day. Nice little place.

If the weather remains as nice in November, I'll be looking to play.

Anyone interested in playing tomorrow? I'm pretty free and could make something work!

Played the Ridge at Castle Pines. It was in fabulous shape and I really enjoyed it FYI.

I'm flying to Denver tomorrow. I get in 6 hours before the rest of my group. I'm staying at the JW Marriott (which doesn't have a pool, WTF), so I figure I'll kill the afternoon on a course close to the hotel. It looks like Overland and CommonGround are <20 minutes from the hotel. Is one better than the other? Is there another course I should consider? We're playing The Ridge on Saturday. That's the highlight of the trip.

Also, I'll be in Steamboat for 4 days next month. Any recommendations in that area?

Common ground better than overland.

Agreed on Commonground. Play Haymaker and Rollingstone Ranch in Steamboat.

Anyone playing this weekend?

I have a 2:40 Friday afternoon at Highlands Ranch if anyone wants to join. I'm also open on Sunday and could play anywhere.
