The lofts on the Fly's are just jacked up a little more, get the ball in the air better for beginners. That is really the only difference between the Fly and the Fly Pros that I can really tell, I'd call them both GI irons. The Pro Combo and Pros are both forged so definitely a players iron.

The Flys have a little more offset and the club heads are a little bigger than the Fly Pros. I would call the Flys GI irons but the Fly Pros and the VPCs are somewhere between GI and players irons.

All that forged vs non-forged (cast) is going to affect is the feel of the clubs. The VPCs will feel a little softer when you hit them.

The VPC's are crazy forgiving. I'm a mid-high handicapper (sitting around 18-20 but iron striking is the best part of my game) and I love these. I thought they would be too much club for me to handle initially but I was taken back by how forgiving they are while looking like a better player's club.

Picked up a Limited Edition Volt Vapor Speed for a bargain price. Hardly used.

 

Not sure about the shaft. X Flex is stiffer than a stiff flex right?

I'm telling you, with the Proto Pro Combo's and my Kirkland Sig ball, I should be scoring in the 60's with ease. Probably won't even need to practice any more.

Have a quick question. Currently gaming the Blueboard S+ in X flex in my driver and fairway. I can handle the driver really well though it launches LOW. Have to set it to 12.5, which has helped a lot in getting the ball up enough.

 

I'm curious what the tensei 50 X flex would do compared to the 60g S+ X flex. I know torque ratings are different by about 2 full degrees. +5 compared to +3 respectively.

 

But it's the fairways that are killing me. I struggle with big cuts and a slice in the 70 S+ X flex, not consistent and again, struggle to get ball high enough. Though adjusting to upright position has helped more than expected. The tensei 65f in X flex is intriguing and I'm not sure why.

Were you fitted into X flex? It sounds like you may be playing shafts that are a bit too stout. I went through the same thing, swallowed my pride and went down a flex, and instantly made my golf game more enjoyable.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and advice. I did go ahead and order the Pro Combos.

 

BTW, it looks like they've dropped to $499 for the regular price at Nike.com and $299.40 if you have access to the employee store now so it made the decision even easier.

Thanks for the heads up on the price changes guys. I swear I spend more money on Nike stuff than I make working there. Got a new set of Vapor Pros and a new Air Sport III carry bag on the way for a song!
