Demo day....F8+ vs PingG400 experience didn't go as planned as I had hoped. It amazes me how a company can come to a demo day with 50 shafts and one of them are X flex. Only shaft available was Aldila NV 2KXV Blue. Didn't care at all for this driver. From the busy looking head to how crappy it felt at impact at first. I thought the grey color looked better vs black and really liked the LTD so I was expecting this would feel just as good as that head did. Had more weight towards the back and kept hitting these weird spinny cuts. Fitter recommended switching the weights and ended up switching them forward. After switching them forward the feel improved for the better. Had it set at 9.5. I hit completely different shots after switching the weights. The shots straightened out completely but just glancing at Trackman they weren't even in the realm of the G400. Spin was upwards of 2700 vs the PingG400 which is 2000-2100 range for me. Without options to test more I just simply put the club down and went back to practicing. Cobra definitely needs to be more prepared at demo days but even if they had the right shaft for testing head to head, not sure I would even consider giving the F8+ another shot just based off of looks and feel. Just not for me. Really excited to try the G400 Max and M3. Sometime in the future. More my speed of what I am looking for.

Its pathetic when a company shows up or only sends 1 xflex shaft to a shop or demo day. Honestly pathetic. On top of that I agree with the crown being super busy. I'm not sure who thought that was a good idea but it looks like someone got carried away with the graphics. Feel to me was ok but no way i could look down at that driver every time i tee'd it up.

Ping G400LST has been unreal for me. So consistent it's scary.

Yeah the Ping looks so simple and traditional, it's just really easy on the eyes. :taunt:

I have the f8+ and can only play with it with the weight forward. I might buy another weight to replace the 2g to see if it helps the feel more. The aldila shafts both have crazy high torque. I put a handcrafted px evenflow Black 75 6.5 and it changed the driver. I will admit the g400lst is hard to beat. I wish I bought one in 10* opened to 9.5

That is what I have. 10 opened to 9.6

I've noticed the Cobra folks at our demo days have always been under prepared and some what jaded when trying some of their equipment out. Typically, all they have is the stock shafts and have a really limited assortment of the upgrade shafts that they supposedly offer. A bit disappointing considering the amount of hype they seem to produce for their new products.

You would think where I'm a member at Rickie Fowler is a member and there are 20+ pro's and a ton of high level amateurs, college guys out there they would come a little more prepared. Not only where they unprepared for the better player but the rep tried to say the Tensei Blue was a super low spin shaft. lol I thought they did a great job with the head of the LTD. Just not my taste anymore.

945s are definitely staying. Making up another bag to leave in my car for work in Nor Cal. I plan on playing with a few buddies when I visit and also some tournaments. At first I was hesitant about the s400 shafts in them. But after a few 9 holes with them I feel like I’ve been missing out. They have Tour Issue AMT s400 and I’m a good club longer with them than anything else. My 7 iron is a stock 170. With these I’m 180-185. They just stay in the air forever on me. Even the 3 iron which I don’t carry usually is stupid silly easy to hit. I’m going to double check the lofts to see if it’s the loft that’s causing them to go far. Or maybe s400 just fits me really good now.

The Srixon "45" series is still the best and what everyone on tour uses. I don't like the direction they went with the 65's.

I liked the 965s but after going to the 945s it was not an improvement. I heard though the next line will be smaller and more in line with the 945 line

Curious to see what you think of the m3. I won one with a rogue silver 60x and not sure of the shaft. Might throw the evenflow Black from my F8+ into the m3

On the range I like what I see. Needs to be hotmelted though. Sound is meh...

My hotmelted M3 440 from Will People's is money. It came way too light stock. About 6 grams back to D3 @ 201-202 grams is perfect for me playing @ 44.5".

I bagged the same G400 LST prior just like you.

I think you will like how it sounds after the hotmelt. Play well good sir!

G400MAX should be here today!

M3 460 has been so so for me. I will say adjusting the weighs has made a big difference. I settled on both weights forward and have been hitting some drives in areas I don’t normally hit. Paired with the Kuro Kage DC... damn great shaft! 44.5 inches. But this thing feels light so once my scale comes in going to mess with the weight. Sounds like crap though compared to the Ping. Without hotmelt. Tend to lose a bit more distance off of misses vs the LST. LST just goes...

A little longer than the Ping g400LST. Good for good. Because this is a 10.5 head opened up. The Ping is playing at 9.6 But once this MAX comes in it should be interesting.

On a side note. Like to see Reed or Rory win the Masters. :)

The PING MAX is stupid accurate. It’s like using a long iron off the tee. I didn’t miss a fairway on the front 9 yesterday. Maybe it’s the driver... maybe it was being hungover on 3 hours of sleep. Maybe it’s a combo???

Depends on what the drink of choice was the night before. Hows the distance since 300 in the fairway is longer than 320 behind a tree haha

Good for good the m3 setup is a few yards longer. But my m3 setup is coming in at D0. Waiting for a cartridge to come in so I can get the weight up to d3. I almost want to keep both drivers but I’m thinking in the end I want to hit more fairways. G400MAX

Hot melted the m3 from 197 to 200 grams. Playing it at 44.5 it now plays at D2... left some room in case I want to get another shaft and play it at 44.75.

First time hotmelting and I have myself a B- lol. Only reason is the needle got stuck in the hot melt port. Maybe I pushed it in too much? But the needle broke off from the applicator tube and I had to pull it out with pliers haha.

Anyways thank you J13 for answering a few questions about hotmelting

Pretty straight forward though and happy with the investment.

The g400 MAX is D4 already... bummer I just wanted to hotmelt it just because I can now! Lol

Did you hotmelt through the hot melt port or the opening in the hosel? Also is that the hot melt gun from hotmelt.com

Through the port. Yes from the same site.

New tools going in the bag. Went with F grind on the 52 Vokey and M grind 56. Also have had this backup green dot engage that I was saving. Not very many produced. Has a dual sole on a TS head. Low bounce. Still debating to put it in the bag or save for my son.

I found it much easier to bend those needles into a curve, makes gettting into certain parts of the head much easier when doing melt. Also if the hot melt port is tight on the needle you can drill it out slightly larger with zero issues. Done that about 4-5 times now.
