Missed everything lol. Shot 76 mixed tees. Black and Blue. Pro tees were closed

Anymore feedback on the project X LZ? Might give the 965's a go and debating trying these or sticking with DG. What would you recommend for a 3-4 iron 765?

 

If you are coming from DG I think you would like the LZs. Great feeling shaft and trajectory is right where I need them to be. I really don't have any complaints about the LZ. They feel in between Modus 130 and DG for me. 765 for 3,4 iron. I could play the 965 even for the 4 iron but the added distance and forgiveness I would say 765.

Yep, I like the slant neck, more square bumpers and especially the sight-line on top. All of that together looks pretty cool. How does the face insert feel on that one?

This is out of pure boredom. Influenced by Tai's visit to ECPC. Not sure if I want to shell out 400.00+ right now for an Epic that I'm not fitted for. Going to HQ next month for a fitting if I can squeeze it in. Once this huge storm rolls over I can actually go hit this. It's just a standard head. Also have a Tour AD Di shaft for it as well. Going to play Pebble, Spanish Bay and Poppy next week with my son so it's between this or the Flex 440.

 

Swing needs some work right now. Been really dumped under lately so I hope to get that figured out before my trip.

One last person... for another few days. The future is uncertain for many. Hope to see some resurface in the golf business hopefully.

Honestly been focusing on my sons game lately. Mine is so on the back burner. Going through a swing change and buying a house so haven't been tinkering too much. My sons bag is looking better than mine lately.

 

I have an Epic coming, testing Srixon balls... threw in an old tour issue Aeroburner... still have the Srixon irons

 

Also... I can barely break 80 on a good day lately lol

Had this setup... but it got beat by this setup:

 

Tour Issue m2 @ 10.5* 2.2 open 201 grams... with an old school classic in it

Tour issue m2 set at 10.25 and 1.75 open is the clear winner vs the 9.0 Epic. I'm carrying the m2 farther and higher. It spins a bit more around 2700 but with the fairways at my home course Torrey Pines there hasn't been much roll. 290 carry is big for me. With roll it's 310-315. I have another Epic setup coming. Going 10.5 with Tensei v3 Orange.

A few weeks ago I tested the Ping g400 drivers. I found the LST to spin 400rpms less vs non. I also found the LST to be more fade biased. The fitter mentioned that they are open a few degrees.

 

We started with the Ping Tour 65 in x but the ball speeds were pretty low. I was getting 165 ball speeds being fairly warmed up. I went back to my bag and grabbed my tour issue m2. Which is set at 10.25 and 2.5 degrees open. My ball speeds were a lot higher in the 168-170 range. This has been a great driver for me as I carry it as long as anything I've had before. Except I don't get any roll out of this thing. Trackman confirmed I was spinning the m2 at 2600-2700rpm. I was carrying it 290ish with about 10-15 yards of roll. One thing about the m2 is a tend to draw it a lot.

 

We switched out the shafts and jumped into a Fujikura

 

 

Ball speeds immediately jumped up and we settled on a 10* turned down. 9.6*

 

Ball speeds were in the 169-171 range which is good for me. Spin was almost too low for what I like. 1800-2000...

 

But this head was incredibly straight vs the m2. Very little ball movement and the dispersion was better. I ended up ordering. I decided to go with the Aldila Xtorsion Copper 70x tipped 1 inch. I think with a slightly higher launch with a little more spin will give me an extra few yards. I'm really excited to get this driver in my hands for on course testing. I should have it in a few weeks. I've never liked Ping anything but so far this one is a winner.

 

The numbers were into a 10mph or so headwind. 75% humidity in San Diego. I'm hoping to get better numbers in normal dry conditions.

 

In other news. Headed to visit an old friend that used to make clubs for Tiger and Rory. Should be a fun visit.
