You'll find a ton of answers to this question. LOL What are you looking for more?

The redwood is on average 10 grams heavier headweight, both have a durable finish.

Have you rolled them yet? Which one feels better to you.

Putters are such a personall item, it's really hard to say what would work best for each indivisdual person.

I forgot about that :bigwhack: :rolleyes: :cheesy:

The Ping Redwood Series is made from 303 Stainless which IS a harder feeling metal, while the camerons are made from Soft Carbon Steel.

If you like a sight dot, That's a Cameron, Sight line....Ping

Both are able to be ordered +/- 2 Degrees Lie

They are both excellent putters. Cameron will cost more but will have a much better resale value if you normally go that route with your putters.

Although the Ping Redwood is advertised at 340 grams and the Circa 3 at 330, every Circa 3 I've ever swingweighted or weighed was at least in the neighborhood of 335-337 grams. I think the weight difference would be indistinguishable.

Although many people say stainless steel is harder than carbon steel (and at a molecular level they certainly are right) I personally don't think there's much difference when you use a quality softer covered ball like a Titlelist ProV or Tour NXT (or one of the similar balls made by Callaway or Nike).

I was in the same boat as you. I think both putters look really nice. I decided to go the Redwood route because they are available in different lengths. I realize you can cut down the Circas if your size is shorter than 35", but I didn't want to deal with adding weight to get back to the standard swingweight.

Circa,

I think to many people get caught up in weight and not in how the putters rolls. I must say i was one of those who was caught up in the weight factor. I have a Yes Callie & circa #2 (retail). I know the circa is at least 20gm lighter than the Callie yet i make more puts with the circa. bottom line go with feel/control and you will be happier in the end.

The circa 3 is available in 350 gram but this was only released in Asia. The charcoal mist version with these specs 34"/350g will be released shortly. You can find the gun blue version on ebay from time to time.

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

They are 2 really different animal.

The redwood is very very soft but very expensive.. I did not like the shape very much it looks fat. prefer the newport or newport 2. And I do not really like the feel. Soft but not as dense feeling. also the 34 inch i tried is too heavy for my taste..

The circa is toe up.. so gate putting will look more squarish in and out.. I am considering this one .. or maybe tpmills . The grind is also very nice.. round based instead of square. For me this putter setup and aim like a lazer. The feel is also Dense soft and the putt tracks a little more heavy on this one which I like.

but depends what you like... but personally I like circa because I aim much better with it and i feel i can go after a lag putt better.

but again putter is so personal...

Very much a personal decision based on your preferences. I think both provide very nice feedback...it's just a matter of what fits your eye (confidence) and what rolls the rock better for you.

Now that the Circa has a more "durable" finish, I think it's really what you feel the most comfortable with.

Another option - why not both??? :bigwhack: I own a Cameron Studio Design 1.5 (similar toe up design) and a couple different Newport/Anser style putters and I enjoy going between the different designs.

I have tried both and wound up buying the redwood myself. I feel that the redwood is plenty soft and as soft as any other scotty on the market except perhaps the circa 62. THat being said i chose the redwood because i dont like playing a 35" putter and i felt the weight and balance of the redwood were almost perfect.

I also liked the maintainence free finish, although the charcoal should take care of that.

Ping putters also hold their value quite well on ebay so you could try one of each and sell the one you dont like for little to no loss :bigwhack:

Interesting discussion…

I have tried both putters and ended up getting the Circa 62 #3 CM finish…

Like someone mentioned in a previous comment I felt the Redwood looked a bit fat and after playing with a Newport 2 for a couple of years found it hard to get used to…

I liked the toe up style of the Circa and the feel (to me…) was much better…I felt my putts rolled better overall with the Circa and overall it felt like a better quality putter…

They are both beautiful putters but in the end I went for the Circa and I am glad I did! The Charcoal Mist finish is very low maintenance and the #3 sets up nicely! It inspires confidence as you’re sitting over the putt!

Agree with all that say this is a personal decision you need to make based upon your own impressions. My personal preference woudl be for the Circa#3 - the length is perfect for me, and I really like the feel. The redwood is a fine putter, and the Ping customization is appealing, but I personally don't care for the finish - I find it too shiny to the point of being distracting. Of course, if I were to go for the Circa#3, I would look into getting the factory to add a sight line and bending it 2 degrees up; with that combo I think that it would be hard to beat.
