[b] The professionals at MK Golf are certified club fitters that have devoted many hours to shaft profiling and partnering with companies to perform shaft testing on new products. Shaft profiling allows for a much closer look at how shafts perform under static load versus swing performance. This is done by taking forty measurements in one inch increments from the tip of the shaft to the butt end of the club. This work is done by the use of an EI profiling machine to determine the flexural rigidity of each shaft. By using the profile machine, we can find out the butt, tip, and mid stiffness which allows us to see relative stiffness in each section of the shafts to better select which shaft curve fits each players swing characteristics.[/b]

-- My preferred driver shaft weight is between 65g-70g. The Speeder 661 S (67.5g) I'm playing right now is a bit lighter than the models I've used in the past few years, but it helps keep my swing speed and in-flight numbers in correlation to what I'm used to. The torque and flex are very comfortable for me to swing aggressively. I'm right in-between most Fujikura stiff and x-stiff shafts; I've played Fujikura in all of my woods and rescues for over 5 years so I'm comfortable with knowing how these shafts react after they're adjusted to my specifications. The S has a bit too much play in it so I've tipped mine 1/2 inch, making it similar to that of an X. This is the best driver/shaft combination I've ever had.

-- My desired driver length is 44.5 inches and my driver shaft has a frequency of just under 280cpm. I'm not sure what the Mitsubishi Kuro Kage S or X freqs out at, but I'd imagine you guys have a good idea of how to make that work if I'm selected. I use the Taylor Made SLDR adapter.

-- I'd test the Kuro Kage on the range and in an indoor studio with Trackman to record accurate numbers. I would then input the results and post them on the forum that's provided. Within the indoor facility I have access to in West Des Moines, there are a plethora of high-quality shafts (Mitsubishi, Fujikura, Oban, Aldila, Matrix, etc...) that I could compare the Kuro Kage with in order to get solid testing completed. With these shafts, I would record the data and post on the forum provided. Finally, I would play on the course and see how the Kuro Kage compares with my Speeder 661 by playing one ball with the Fuji and another ball with the Kuro Kage with the same driver head. After the first drive on a hole, I'd unscrew one shaft and then put the other shaft in play. I'd play multiple rounds this way and then post the data on the forum that's provided.
I've played competitively at a high level for over 20 years and the driver/shaft combination I currently have has been tested many different times. This driver setup has been extremely successful for me, but if the Kuro Kage shaft is as good as advertised, then I can't wait to put it in play.

Please explain how you would approach testing the KURO KAGE™ Black TiNi. Multiple driver intensive range sessions, a 50 ball LM session (25 with the TiNi and 25 with my Speeder TS) and 36- 54 holes of golf on a 7000 yd course I know very well that demands keen driver selection and requires the ball to be worked both ways. Wind and weather vary greatly so it will be a great test of the shaft's performance.

[b]Well, I've been playing my 905T for many years now and I feel like I know the club inside and out. The difference between the stock speeder shaft and the new Kuro Kage Black TiNi would tell me all that I (personally) needed to know about how the shaft is performing. Feel comes first, then the numbers game. I'd probably take a baseline set of averages with the 905T head with the stock speeder shaft and then compare it to the set of averages attained with the Kuro Kage Black TiNi shaft. Using a combination of feel and analytics, I could come up with my own conclusions.[/b]

[b]That being said, I feel like shafts are a highly individual thing. What works for me might not work for you.[/b]

· I have participated in these types of testings before. I believe the most important part of it is to continue to test, provide feedback, and respond to the general public's inquiries. I would be more than happy to continue to participate in the thread, even months after the fact (as I have done before). Additionally, I am more than happy to take pictures of any and all portions of the shaft that people may want to see. Finally, I am definitely going to provide a detailed review of the shaft and how it compares in terms of my use of other shafts in my current driver/setup.
· Would love to get a Black tini in 60g in stiff flex. I think this would be the best direct comparison given my current shaft composition.
· No tipping needed for me other than a Callaway adapter (if possible).
· I have access to my club which has a grass driving range. I would love to get this out for a couple of days on the range to compare to my current driver setup, as well as my two back up drivers. I would then like to take it out onto the course and try it against all 3 drivers. Finally, I plan on demo'ing a couple of other drivers from the club so I can compare those shafts and/or head combinations to the black tini! The best thing is, I can do this all year around due to our beautiful SoCal weather.

My approach would be simple, implement the shaft into my game as I would with the one that I was fit for. In other words, treat it as you would with any normal shaft. I wouldn't change anything about my current golf habits and routine practice. Just go out and play and work with it on the range. I would keep normal stats (% of fairways hit, miss percentage and discern any noticeable pattern). However I would first compare it to my current shaft that, the Kuro Kage ProtoTini Tour Edition, which I got fit for my swing. I would pay special attention to the shaft’s performance because any overall assessment must be measured by how misses are managed.
