I've known Rhein for over 5 years and found the opposite to be true. One of the most down to earth kats I've ever known.

I had the misfortune of playing against him several times over a couple years. The guy just had very few redeemable qualities. Not friendly, not considerate, extremely arrogant, and rude. I didn't know anybody that liked the guy.
Was still a stud on the golf course, but I will never cheer for him out there.

Those would be my thoughts as well. I've seen him take incredible care of groups, and speak in a way on the lesson tee that makes sense to all comers.
Is he human? Do people have off days under the gun and the pressure of tournament golf? Sure. Find someone on this site who isn't and doesn't.

If I'm not mistaken, his college golf coach was on the bag this week and his regular caddie was out of town. I'm sure it was a courtesy to a friend and older back.

Most premiere athletes have a great deal of confidence and are often referred to as cocky. There is no prerequisite or reason to be a dick.

(This is not a comment on Rhein as I don't know him or have ever seen him on course or off.)

I've played with many great players in high stress settings. We all understand pressure. I am not mistaking confidence for something else. Character is character, and it really shines under pressure.
Like I said, a hell of a player, but character pailing in comparison to skill.

Rhein is a great person. I was fortunate enough to become friends with him on the mini tours. We traveled, ate many meals and played many practice rounds together, even caddied for him once. He would go out of his way to help you. Incredibly talented!!

I would agree with jadedennill. I've never seen someone try making me feel like a piece of s*** more then anyone on the course. Tournaments are tournaments, you can still have fun between shots and turn the competitive mode on just prior to your routine.

I would have Rhein on the bottom of my list of nice guy tour players.

Tyrone Van Aswegen was a nice guy.
Nick Taylor is awesome and super nice.
Brett Stegmaier is an awesome dude too.
Adam Hadwin is another great dude.

While I've had the complete opposite experience with Rhein you're more than entitled to your opinion. I guess my thing would be why run a guy down on the Internet. You don't like him cool move along and enjoy your life. Seems like kind of a douchebag move to jump on a golf forum and run a guy down who just made to the show. Just one mans opinion I guess

While this has turned into something I didn't quite intend, I do stand by my opinion. And no, not a couple bitter armchair cynics running someone down on the Internet, but another insight into one of these players, who most of you hold on a pedestal. We see their clubs, and talk about how good they are, which I acknowledged by the way, but rarely does anybody give a real opinion on them. I really do hope for Rein's sake, he has read this, and that he has changed. Seems like lots of positive remarks from guys on here, and that's great to hear, because you would not have heard such in his university days.
I also have to point out the obvious, which probably isn't too obvious to some. Even a**holes have friends, and they wouldn't see their friends as such. It's like, when you're stupid, you don't know you're stupid.....not pointing fingers
