Keep going back and forth. I'd want to go back to Streamsong once Black is finished. I also would want to go to Augusta once my son is a little older, so he could enjoy it with me.

I'm leaning towards a quickie Streamsong one nighter...

Wifey won't LET you do both?

Oh brother! What have we become?

I would do both. Let the crumbs fall where they may.

Happy wife, happy life.

Plus, I wouldn't dare leave her with our two Tazmanian Toddlers alone for too long, too often.

For me, even though it's Augusta and the Masters, I'm playing. Heck, I'd take playing a run down muni over watching, let alone a place like Streamsong.

Always play over watching for me.

You would seriously rather play a run-down muni course that you could play anytime than go to the Masters?

Given the choice between watching someone else do something or doing it myself I would pretty much always do it myself. The run down muni example is where it starts to get shaky but I don't play a lot of those so it is hard for me to put it in appropriate context. When it is the opportunity to play at a solid course vs watching someone else play it is a very easy choice. I've enjoyed the 3 rounds I have seen over the years at Augusta but I can definitely say I would prefer to play somewhere instead.

I guess for me it isn't so much watching others play as it is walking a golf course like Augusta. I went to a practice round a couple years ago and really couldn't care less about the players as I've seen all those guys before at other events. For me it was spending a day walking around that course. And I would much rather spend a day traversing the hills of Augusta than spend a day traversing some run down muni haha.

To each his own though! :golfer:

As this would be the first time you might go to the Masters, I'm assuming it's not an event that you can readily do (or you may not be posing this question to the board).

Streamsong, with it's hit or miss customer service and banishment to the middle of FL, will be around for the foreseeable future.

In my mind, not a terribly hard decision.

Absolutely! I'm always going to choose participating over watching. Even on the muni, and especially a bigger name course. I'd just rather play. I kind of sum it up way, especially the way the question is phrased. If I go to the Masters I'm not playing at all for that time period. I'd much rather record it to watch later and also get to actually play.

If you have never been to Augusta then go. Few things are as good or even better than the lore and legend make them up to be. Augusta during the Masters is one of those things that say "I will see your hype and raise you."

Give him a break...he's probably a newly wed and hasn't been exposed to the phrase, "It is better to ask for forgiveness than permission!"

To answer the original question...I'd rather play Streamsong because I may never get a chance to actually play Augusta National. Going to watch it would mean a lot more if I ever had a chance to play it, thereby adding to the whole Masters experience. I've been to Eastlake a few times for the Tour Championship, and while I enjoy watching, that day I ever get to play Eastlake will be much sweeter because I will compare it to the times I watched.

For the record, I think I have a much better chance of playing Eastlake than I do Augusta National.

Lol...been married about 8 years now with two Tazmanian Toddlers running around the house. Not sure if that's still newlywed territory lol.

I actually have some people I know personally that have played Augusta, so I think I may have a chance to get on and play at some point in my life.

That being said, it's still a tough call for me. I'm not big on watching golf live, but I have a tradition of walking the course on practice days that I love doing. I haven't had the opportunity to go down and watch the Masters, yet, and it would definitely not be an annual thing. I do plan on taking a trip down once the kids are older, but I really want to go once on my own and soak it all in.

I keep going back and forth...I'm still, slightly, leaning towards Streamsong.

Watch the Masters and play Palmetto GC! It's worth the price and only open to non-members during Masters week! One of the oldest courses in the US (1892), Alister MacKenzie built the greens after he finished Augusta.

This is a great idea!!!!

I did it last year and fell in love with the place. So much history there, it's like stepping back in time. Golf at it's purest!

By this logic, this is all the more reason to go to Augusta. You know you will never play it so your only chance to see it in person is Masters week.

This makes more sense to someone that would rather watch than play. I'm okay with never seeing a course I'll most likely never play. I love golf, and love to watch golf, but I LOVE to play golf. For me, going to Augusta National to watch, knowing I may never play, would be like looking at a Playboy spread of Scarlett Johansson. I WANNA PLAY!!!! LOL!
