EVNROLL putters

Honman

Recommended Posts

Anyone else really excited to try these? I've not seen a lot of buzz about these putters, yet I've read loads about the Toulon Designs. But if these grooves work like they're meant to they are a total game changer.

I always liked Rife putters, I used to love a Mr Beasley and the Barbados was great as well. These are milled too so should be better quality than most Rife's.

Check this video about them

Really like the shape of that head. The Rife Abaco was pure gold for me a few years back then I dented her topline and she never treated me the same. Let's hope this line fares better than the Geurin line. Never seemed to take off.

I remember my friend denting the top line of a Bobby Grace mallet. I couldn't even look at it any more. No one else even noticed it!

Have used the Guerin Tour Spec for a year now....excited about the ER2.

Guerin is the king of grooves. Where Ping uses depth, Guerin is using width. I just got notification that they are soon in stock.

Who is pulling the trigger first?

Nice putter!

Feel is a tad bit crisper than the Guerin Tour Spec Mallet that I have (the gold standard for feel).

I went 33"/370g with no counterweighting. The 1.18 grip will take some getting used to...I am used to a standard size grip (may switch it out). Distance control was perfect, but I am used to the 370g head.

Beautiful package...playing on Friday. That will be the true test.

10 posts in and no one ripping them for copying the #7 design. just goes to show it's a personal issue people have with cameron and not the idea that companies copy a proven design. pathetic really.

Surprised me, too. Kept reading, waiting for someone to point out the obvious, and nobody did. They're all variations on a theme, anyway, but people do like to pretend Cameron is the only one borrowing.

I have played 2 rounds with the putter...going to leave it in the bag for a bit as is!

Grip - I had messed with the larger grips previously, but never made enough putts...head allways felt too light. Because I ordered it 370g, all is well balanced. Larger grip slowing the rotation just a bit.

Feel - As I said before, not as soft as my Tour Spec, but anyone who hits it vs their Cameron or Bettinardi comments how soft it is. My pace was perfect out of the box.

Technology - love the grooves! Guerin has done it again! thinner in the middle, thicker on the edges...consistent distances. I had one putt yesterday from about 12 feet...left center...I know I heeled it just a bit and thought i pulled it...grooves seemed to push it back online and made the putt. I swear that balls hit toward the toe trundle left, and balls hit on the heel trundle right. Still have not used the 2 dots on the top (right to left off right dot, left to right off left dot).

Look - Tour spec naturally sets with my hands ahead...I have to make sure that my hands are in the proper position. Small price to pay for made putts.

I used a Cameron Squareback (and Bettinardi SS9, and every other Squareback iteration) extensively over the last 10 years...This putter lives up to the hype for me.

BTW...if I had ordered this putter stock at 33", It would have been 385g and a 30g counterweight. Fortunately Evnroll let's you customize it to what you like.

i am no way affiliated with the company...

I read that the 2 dots were for lining up putts...you line it on the right dot for right to left putts, and on the left dot for left to right putts.

Reminds me of a tip Andy Bean gave years ago about left to right putts...lining it up just to the inside of the center line because all golfers pull the putter towards them slightly on left to right putts.

I am fascinated with the technology in this putter...from the heavy head, to the oversize grip...the variable grooves...the alignment dots.

With all that being said, 28 putts today.

FWIW

These are pretty nice looking. I only have a couple questions...

Why the two dots on the topline? I guess to help line up your eyes? But those dots are pretty distracting...

Why is the mallet bright red...?

fqDrlUd.jpg

I don't see how two, unpainted, tiny little dots on a topline can be distracting, especially compares to all the giant sightlines and crazy shapes companies like taylormade, scotty, PING, etc etc are making. ..

But why is it red...only God knows...

I started the 3 day tournament with my Guerin Tour Spec Mallet...I just did not think I had enough time with the Evnroll ER2 for tourney play. But after day one, I knew that I was ready. I did not putt badly, but did not convert enough putts.

Brought the ER2 and the GR Mallet to the practice green and it was clear. Better roll with the ER2...more putts made with the ER2.

Technology at work? Had an 8 footer in the playoff...I had read it right edge and as soon as I hit the ball, I knew that the moment got to me and I pushed it outside right edge...but i'll be darned if it did not trundle left and into the hole!

was it the grooves at work? did I miss read it?

I don't care...winner, winner, chicken dinner!

ER2 is now full time in the bag. I had putted so well with GR TS Mallet, and knew it would be a tough battle to make the bag, But it has.

you know putting is about confidence....what if you had in the back of your mind that wherever you hit it on the face, it is going to go at the hole?

Toe...heel...center? Watch some of the videos. Especially where he shows what happens with a traditional putter.

I am starting to believe that there is some gear effect to the grooves as well based upon their shape toward the heel and toe. Guerin does as well.

I have not had much success yet with the two dots on top (line up on left dot on left to right putts, on the right dot for right to left putts), but to be fair, I have not practiced it yet.

I was a longtime fan of the Cameron Squareback 1...wanted to get off the hamster wheel. This ER2 suits my needs.
