EVNROLL putters

  • 5 weeks later...

Hi guys, just got ER1 recently. Love the feel & roll. However, I tried to remove some dirt / sand stuck in the grooves & scratched the coating on the face. See image attached.

1. Quite surprised that the coating is quite thin / fragile. Those grooves will surely attract dirt / sand & will need to be cleaned regularly. The coat shouldn't come off that easily

2. Is there a way to get this fixed?

I don't think this would affect performance but it is upsetting to see the scratch there, especially for a relatively new putter. Sending it back to EVNROLL might not be a viable option as it might take weeks or months before getting it back (im in Malaysia). That being said, tried filling up the webform but have yet to hear back from them.

Thanks.

What did you use to clean the grooves with? They probably put on some kind of silicone coating over the machined metal (is there any type of chemical coating over the steel?) to keep it shiny and smooth.

From the looks of your pic... you may have used something abrasive or harder than the material? I use a nylon wire brush or brass to clean out my grooves.

You think a Frogger brush would be ok?

Demo'd the ER2 again and I love the roll and feel of that thing. Wow! Also, love the 33" at 385 grams.

I spoke with a EVNROLL employee... They said the ER6 should be, but I'm not sure if it's just the old red head, or both red and black. I assume between the two, the only difference is the new one is anodized with a black compound instead of red, and they take 1 extra step to paint in the extra line-up lines.

Thanks man. I like the look of ER6 in black. I'm not sure I could go with the red. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Got the ER2 and changed the grip on it and it seems to have totally screwed up the balance of the putter for me. Went to the store and got a Winn grip to throw on it and see if it feels right after that.

Played with it 2x and putted great with it once, then terrible the next time (thus the grip change). Now it feels really wonky in my hands.

I can confirm the ER5 will be available in left. Put my name on the list today!

Thanks Captain. That may very well be my gamer for 2017. Love the shape of the ER5. All going well they should be in shops by the time I'm on vacation in Florida in late March.

...Because you screwed with the swing weight. What weight grip did you put on? I'm guessing to make it feel "wonky" you either went very heavy or very light

Oh I agree, I put a Pure BigDog on it and they weigh in at 125g or so, vs the 50-60g grip that was previously on it. I'm going to play around with it a bit more and try a few things that I like. I've just never had a grip change the feel of a putter that much before.

I'm hoping to get to the golf shop tomorrow to give a few of them a roll. They have 3 models in, including the ER2 and ER3. They just got a shipment in on Monday! I'll try to remember the camera and take a few photos...

WELL, I got to the pro shop today & tested out 4 of the Evnroll putters, ER1, 2, 3, and 5. I liked them all. I was forced to putt indoors on the carpet, as it was raining outdoors. I spent the most time on some long lag putting to see how it did. I enjoyed the hour I spent with them. I liked the feel of the putters in hand and at contact. They all lined up nicely, but I was most comfortable with the ER2. My son gave them a go too. He asked for one for his up coming birthday!

I'm not completely fond of the rolled bottom, kinda seems like that would encourage a set up that wouldn't be perfect. When I got my Ping TR Cadence, I had it professionally fitted to my set up at Carl's Golf Land, and it sit perfectly flat to my set up. I'd think that having this putter professionally fitted to your set up would be smart. I'll have to see how a fitting would go with this. We shall see!

Forgot my camera, had to use my son's phone!

The close up showed some inperfections. I wish I had my camera, as it has macro and better resolution. Oh well...

After seeing my own photos of the face on the ER2 yesterday, I decided to take some of my Ping TR putter, which is brand new. As you can see, while the milling is smooth, the grooves are burdened with imperfections also. NOT sure either will see any affect from said tiny issues, but then again, who knows. I thought you'd find the photo interesting, if nothing else...

My ER2 showed up this week. I was on a business trip so a bit of a delay on the box opening.

I have to admit I am unimpressed by the fit and finish of the head.

Everything else looks good but the actual head looks nowhere near as professionally produced and cared for as I would have expected for a putter priced akin to a Cameron. I purchased it online from the PGA Superstore.

In addition to the grooves being dinged, as if it was bounced around without a headcover during shipping, there are large clumps of unremoved, coated metal between some of the grooves.

Pics below.

When I first took the wrapping off, i actually assumed that perhaps this had been a tester in the shop. How else would the actual grooves get dented unless someone was picking it up and putting it down in a test rack? Presumably, it hasn't been out of its sleeve since it was made.

But then, on closed inspection, I saw rough patches in the milled out areas.

Clearly, this wasn't well-machined.

I am reluctant to send it back without hitting it - perhaps it plays just fine - but I can feel slight imperfections across the face as I run my fingers over it.

I am disappointed . . .

Here's a pic showing the dented grooves. The main stretch is about 2/3 of the way down - but you can see other apparent bang marks as well.

IMG_0860_zpsgruvap23.jpg

Here's a pic of the crap left between the grooves - two shots, one showing the size of the first glob on the left side in the first groove, and the second in a little different lighting showing the other globs in the other grooves.

IMG_0859_zpscnswa6cx.jpg

Those little "white dots" in the grooves don't wipe out/aren't lint, etc. Instead, they are coated imperfections in the metal.

IMG_0825_zpsityljfle.jpg

I should probably just play the damn club - but I am not a happy camper.

My initial one had that issue in the black ER6 I got. I contacted support and they asked for pictures. After I sent those, I was able to send in for a new black ER6.

Happy to see all the info here on these putters, especially considering the recent hype around them from the last two weeks.

Quick question: by calling them I could have something set up to be around 33.5" with the highest head weight they offer? I unfortunately cannot fly out to Carlsbad to get fitted.

Quick question: bought the ER2 on the bst and it looks great. The original owner pulled off the Winn and tossed on a superstroke 2.0, but not the counterweighted version. I have the pistol 1.0 with counterweight on another putter and love the feel of the grip. Great size and feel.

What grip and counterbalance weight should be installed to get back to god original swing weight? I have the ER2 at 370 in 34". Thanks!

I would suggest calling Evnroll on Monday and asking them. I'm sure hey will let you know exactly what to do, as their customer service has been outstanding as fast as my experience.

The ER2 at 34" with the ER oversized grip should be a D9 swing weight. The grip and counter weight should total no more that 117 grams.

Not sure if I missed it on the EVNROLL website but is the ER2 face balanced?

15* toe down, a little different layout of the their site thank other companies, need to click "Details"

https://evnroll.com/er2-mid-blade.html/

Sorry, I mis-spoke, the ER2 has 25* toe hang

Edit: after re-reading further notes, I'm confident that EVNROLL site had been updated/edited from 15* to 25*

Has anyone replaced their Evnroll putter grip yet? I see some OEM grips on Ebay that state they are 117 grams. I read an article that Evnroll adds weight "under" the grip. So, I would assume that weight is grip + weight?

Would maybe like to switch to a SS 3.0 but not sure if I would need weighted or non-weighted.
