I'm sure some of these guys are ripping it, but...seriously. Their carry distance with drivers is probably accurate, but they just zoom in on total distance. The tall fence at the far end is 260 yds from the range mats according to Google Earth. I'm not sure how high the fence is. Also not sure if they are using shorter distance golf balls, but I doubt it. That's the Ventura Freeway traffic behind the fence.

Apparently the balls are like 70% flight and the trackman measures 10-15 yds long

meh no idea how trackman would work with limited flight balls....

That is a good question. His junior students don't seem to mind the possible inaccuracy, as they continue to slaughter every tournament field in a BIG pond.

which is completely irrelevant to what I said... what about slice, thought he was your guy

I took a lesson with GG, hit my driver on his Trackman. The club speed, ball speed, spin, and carry numbers are right in line with what I have seen at TPI, The Oven, and Cool Clubs. The only thing that normalization might skew is the total distance. But those guys are really swinging that hard.

Pure I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on GG's teachings and your experience with an in person lesson.

I wrote up a review in this thread somewhere and posted some youtube things from GG from my lesson.

Normalization does not work with limited flight balls. Club head speed has nothing to do with normalization. Launch, spin, ball speed, carry are way off when you try to convert say a Srixon to a ProV.

My point was that speed is accurate or even a bit slower than actual. So, his students are swinging pretty fast. In terms of the normalization feature, I use it and it works pretty OK. It's not 100%, but it's in the ballpark.

Yeah, Geoff is an awesome coach. I just wanted another set of eyes to look at things, especially shallowing in transition. I've been steep my entire golfing life, despite a lot of hard work and a ton of effort by some great coaches.

George got me shallow after two sessions. Proof is on his IG page!

His instruction is phenomenal. He is very hands-on, and he took the time hours after my lesson to film himself working me through the backswing positions that I need to get to.

His drill to get you under plane is awesome, and I did it religiously for 8 weeks before getting back to LA. I knew that I was getting closer to shallowing, but my backswing was still a mess. We worked through it in pieces, and now I know exactly what to do.

After we worked through the backswing, he made me go to the top, freeze, and transition with the lower body leading. I had to start slowly. I was super shallow and actually coming under plane.

From there, we worked on impact with stick drills. That's where the rotational element comes into play.

In summary, I had been trying to build a very rotational/passive golf swing from a foundation that had not even a sniff of working under plane. He told me at the first meeting that guys that teach a passive release make awesome strides with good players because they usually have a history of being dumped under the plane and slinging. I had to get some of that in my swing before I could make serious strides.

George knows what he's doing. His attention to detail and knowledge of the golf swing are really impressive, which may run counter to what guys are able to see on his IG posts. He's silly, and that's what makes the process fun. But if you want to get into the nuts and bolts of swing theory, he more than holds his own.

Impact positions before and after.

Ball flight is so much better! I still have a ton of work to do!

Great progress Jurr. As for slice, your comments about him working better with good players with the specific issue you discussed was kind of exactly what a lot of us have been saying for awhile when we were being accused of "trashing" him. Anyway, as I said back then, I agree he's a great coach and great guy, but totally agree with your comments regarding the passive release and who his teaching might be better suited for.

In any event, glad you found something that works, that's some awesome improvement. How long were your sessions with GG and how far apart were your lessons?

Nice improvements. Hands and shaft lower at impact have always been my goals to get shallow but never seem to be able to get it right.

What does the term "kicking it up" mean........extension?

Yes, it's hip extension. You can extend hips early and goat hump, or open the hips THEN extend, which is what GG is teaching, which allows you to maintain tush line.
