This weeks field looks another weak one with a lot of players sitting it out to prepare for the 2nd Major next week. With Lydia out here I will again be pulling for Gerina to win her first LPGA tournament. With her still being in good form coming off a T3 at the Kingsmill Championship she should be full of confidence and I expect her to be one of the favourites here.

Quiet a few minor shuffles again in the RR this week as I expected with Ariya Jutanugarn slipping into the top 10 with her 3rd straight win and Brooke M. Henderson making a nice 2 spot gain thanks to her T3. That bumped Sei Young Kim and Stacy Lewis down a couple. I don't expect to see much change next week although the average points could tighten up a bit leaving a couple of players vulnerable to being moved out of the top 10 with the extra points available for the Major the following week.

Yeah, with so many top players sitting out, this is Gerina's best chance. Stacy is probably due as well.

This is such a classic venue...I just love the course even though it's not long enough to be truly relevant for the pro men anymore. We were there Sunday (daughter played in the am qualifier) and I thought it was in fantastic condition.

Greens were firm as were the approach aprons. Shots from the rough were tough to stop. We got heavy rain Sunday night but hopefully it will firm back up. The part 5s are very reachable, especially #2 and #9. Should make for low scores and good drama.

I was surprised how short it played at just over 6000 and firm fairways. Most of the top AJGA and USGA junior girl's set ups are as long or longer.

This event has usually had a strong field in the past. This year.....not so much. The foretasted winds for Sunday afternoon should make things adventurous.

Last year the event was held two weeks before the PGA, but this year it's the week before. Thus, lots of players taking the week off.

Agreed. Gerina is still Top 10-ing her way through the season. Stacy is actually overdue.

Why are the Symetra Tour players at this event? Do they get to play in it?

Same question for Natalie Gulbis, Blair O'Neal, and Sara Brown.

Exemptions have to be given if they're not already qualified for the event.

I thought I had heard somewhere that Blair was playing this week. I'd like to see Nat have a decent week. I think this is the week Gerina pulls it off. If not her then Brooke.

The pro-am has become so large in recent years (and quite frankly too large) that they need every Symetra Tour player, Big Break alum, former tour player, and female they can find who can hit the center of the clubface to accommodate the size of the pro-am. Its that big.

Is it a big party atmosphere for this event?

Biggest one on either the PGA or LPGA I believe.

It's gotta be rather disappointing to have so many top players out, though. The date shift to the week before the PGA has got to hurt.

This field is almost down in Aus WO territory, 2 Top 10'ers and 15 of the Top 50 compared to last weeks 8 & 27 respectively..

Top 50'ers sitting it out,

Lydia Ko

Inbee Park

Lexi Thompson

Sei Young Kim

In Gee Chun

Ha-Na Jang

Amy Yang

Ariya Jutanugarn

So Yeon Ryu

Minjee Lee

Hyo-Joo Kim

Suzann Pettersen

Cristie Kerr

Jessica Korda

Brittany Lincicome

Pornanong Phatlum

Morgan Pressel

Mi Rim Lee

Lee-Anne Pace

Candie Kung

Azahara Munoz

Eun-Hee Ji

Mi Jung Hur

Carlota Ciganda

Still a couple or three outside of Stacy or Henderson who could snatch this one. Na Yeon could do with a win, Shanshan is probably due and Charely is still looking for her first. May as well have another first time winner this year!

When you reach the size where a lot of your 2-day pro-am 4-somes don't even get to play the Bay Course or play with a player who's in the field of the actual event.....you've made it too big and watered it down for the sake of size.

Just noticed there's not even any GC coverage on Thursday.

Instead of showing actual golf, the golf channel decides to show a rerun of Ferherty and 86.

This tournament is only 54 holes with play starting on Friday. GC has coverage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Can't show golf on Thursday when it's a 54 hole event beginning on Friday.

I'd love to see Piller break through this week. Given the light field and the way she's been playing I'd say she's on a very short list of favorites.

Ping 425 driver 10.5*

Ping 425 FWs 14.5* & 17.5*

Ping 425 hybrid 22*

Srixon ZX5 5 - PW

Sub 70 286 Forged wedges 48*, 54* & 58*

Piretti 303 Series Cottonwood II putter
