Testing the waters. No lag, no weirdness, yet. Anyone know what site Stu is referring to? Obviously, a response would have to be cryptic to not run afoul of the Powers that Be. Need a backup bag.

PM's sent.

FWIW things are functioning a bit better this morning, but far from perfect. I have found that using my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone has no problems with lag and freezing. It's possible that running ancient equipment is part of the problem as this computer is over 10 years old...

@scomac2002. It's possible that running ancient equipment is part of the problem as this computer is over 10 years old... Don't know much about computer stuff, especially under the hood. But did see an unusual message bar show up on my '15 laptop the other day while on WRX. Advising me to close the website due to using significant resources. Or words to that effect. Only have seen this message once before on a gaming website I sometimes fool around on. Interrupted that Flash was using a lot of memory in the background. Perhaps something is occurring here, software-wise, that is using a lot of memory causing these issues. IDK. I don't want or need to know how computer stuff works. As long as it just does, without requiring me to figure it out.
Functionality still seems to be better this morning. Not experiencing lag, or run on backspace/delete. At least I can compose and post without aggravation. The basics.

The thing that concerns me about this site is the little i in the circle if you look at the top in your browser bar. If you hover over it and click, it will tell you that your connection to the site isn't fully secure, at least it does for me...heck I'm on some other types of forums that are secure

Ha, I did that and got the same info about the site not being secure. It also said there

are 29 cookies in use so it appears they're getting ready for Santa.

No lag this morning but Tol is right; that much lag coud lead to a freeze on the downswing

..........................and cursing.

Venturing far out of my lane. My understanding is that a site has "certificates", to be precise SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificates for making the link between a site server and a browser secure. A widely deployed protocol for encryption, privacy, and security on the net. Seems to be SOP for most websites. And distinctly recall reading that this was a priority for WRX brass in the transition to a new system platform. To secure the website.

Stating the obvious, apparently that has not taken place. Or still in the WRX. One would think it should have been operational on day one.

Maybe need to visit the WRX HQ. It's located in Dearborn, Mi I believe, less than an hour away. Give Easyyy and the boys a piece of my mind, tell 'em to get their shizzle together. As a self-designated representative of the Grille. On second thought, might not be wise. May get banned. Then what would I do for golf related online kibitzing?

Yeah, I mean (hey, I started off my response like Rory McIlroy would have, guess I'll just continue with it as Rory)... Yeah, I mean, for sure, uhm, you know, they do a really good job here. Uhm, I mean, I'm, for sure it's a lot of, you know, work to maintain this website, and then to try to, you know, upgrade it, uhm, must be quite the, uhm, undertaking and all. But uhm, I mean, it should be, you know, secure for sure, so, I'll feel better about that, so, you know, uhm, yeah definitely...

Scomac, I have a year old Dell...same issues as the rest...seems fine for a couple minutes...then it decides to do whatever the H it wants..lol i think its

cute to watch words suddenly lose letters and to have the pointer jump from top left of the "post box" to the bottom right ! Makes it a fun

challenge to get a sentence posted !

Wish I had an I phone lol i used that money for golfing !

Thanks Tol. Scomac assisted with figuring out the site via PM earlier today. In a "Riddle me this, Batman" sorta way about James Bond, Goldfinger and Slazenger balls. LOL. In order to avoid detection by the authorities mentioning undesirables. But still got pinched. I'm a little slow on the uptake when riddling. But finally figured it out.

I checked out that site and the format looks similar to the new GolfWRX. I heard that name

before when in threads discussing possible new club releases from the mfrs. I think I

remember they were first to get the patent drawings on the Ping Turbulators and later

the Dragonfly.

I think GolfWRX gets the info too but I think they are more likely to honor the mfrs

requests to keep lids on things until something official comes out.

FWIW I prefer it here too. There isn't anything directly comparable to our little corner here over on the competing site, but we should all remember that this got started as a glint in Reasy's eye, so we could move the Grille elsewhere if necessary.

I think we are at a bit of a watershed moment here at WRX. I truly believe that they are doing everything they can to resolve these issues in a timely fashion, but when it becomes apparent that the software isn't compatible with aging widely used hardware and software combinations they are staring into the abyss. The majority aren't going to change equipment in order to make the site work better when there aren't any issues experienced anywhere else that one would frequent.

I'm not an IT guy, but I do know that you really need your own in-house specialists for a web site of this size with the amount of traffic they experience. Most commercial applications are sold on a subscription basis along with service contracts which essentially ties the buyers hands for the duration of the contract even if what was purchased is far from optimal for the intended purpose. We all know how sales work; once the customer is locked in, as long as the vendor is making best efforts, the contract is being honoured whether the product is working as expected or not. I see this at DW's work (more correctly, I hear about it). When dealing with discretionary things, this is not a recipe for success!

FYI: It took me 20 minutes to compose and post this little ditty...

I know the equipment etc should not affect the way it works, as long as the software is up to date and nearly all companies do this on a regular basis everything should work fine, these companies do not really have recourses to do what is required, they usually try to fix everything the same way as that saves time and money. When they come across something that requires special attention it all falls down.
