New Titleist 917 driver: shot at the 2016 Quicken Loans National

Recommended Posts

Any word on that Fuji Pro TS? Is it a made for? I have the Pro TS in my driver now and it's black and white and it's a 73x and the one listed on the Titleist website for the 917's is white and navy and is a 74. Just wondering if it's the same shaft or something slightly different.

I love the Pro TS 73x I have now.

I don't believe the 917 adaptor is any different than the 915. They both appear to be the same surfeit adaptor, so using your current shaft shouldn't be a problem if you plan on picking up a 917.

i really don't think you answered the question. I'd like to know as well.

Correct, I know I can use my shaft from my 915 but I was just curious if it was the exact same shaft with different graphics or something slightly different than the aftermarket version. I'd obviously want to hit it before I order anything but was just curious more than anything.

I just finished up my fitting for the 917's and the new Speeder Pro TS 74 is not the same profile as the Pro TS 73. I don't think it's a "made for" shaft but just not the same. I ended up with the new LTD White Diamana being optimal in my fitting. I was happy with the new stuff, 917's were consistently longer and lower spinning than the 915 with better ball speed. Nothing earth shattering but enough for me to make the switch. The sound is miles better!!

Can you compare the new ltd diamana white to the D+ shaft?

I was fit for the 917's earlier in the week and was under the impression that it was the real deal, but looking at the Titleist site and the Fujikura site they definitely have different specs. The torque is slightly lower on the Fujikura site, not to mention the 73 and 74 difference. Hopefully someone can chime in on these shafts.

For me, the magic shaft was the Rogue M*AX. This shaft fit perfectly for me into the driver, fairway, and even the hybrid. Everyone needs to go get properly fitted for this club. I got very different results once I was dialed in. The technology on this one is pretty cool.

It seems like a small gap between a 4 wood and 19 degree hybrid..

The 4 wood is set to C-1, which is -0.75* in loft, so it plays 15.75*. 4 wood was carrying about 240 and the 19* hybrid was carrying 215. The fitter recommended that was the perfect gap. Average distance guy here!!

I noticed this recently with the 915 3 woods. Stock Diamanas are also a little bit watered down as well. Looks like all they are doing is taking the "made for titleist" line off the shafts because everyone knew for sure they weren't legit. Guys like you and I will get to the bottom of this scheme, but most of their customers won't think to look because of the missing words.
