If you are a D3 player you gonna stick to the same in the 917? The 917 D2 looks more C shaped to me. Is the D3 more of a pear shape?

 

Good question - I think that I may go the D2 route myself, and I've been using the D3 shape going all the way back to the 909. I hit the D3 consistently, and always have, but the added forgiveness can't hurt. The shape of the D2 may be a drag at first, but I've read several posts of guys who made the switch and didn't seem to notice it much after a few rounds.

 

With that said, I may change my mind and stay with the familiar D3.

I had a similar situation when I went from a 913D3 to a 915D2...I like the D2 fine but I hanker for the D3. I'm hoping to get down to our National Fitting Centre so I will have to wait and see what the numbers look like but if they are similar it will be a D3 for me.

I hit all drivers with 8.5* loft and X-flex shaft about the same because I have a pretty average X-flex swing speed of 115 mph and good AoA of +3.5*. This was true for 910D3 vs Razr Hawk Tour and it was still true with 915D3 vs SLDR.

 

That said, I could eventually see myself migrating to the 917D2 if it's quieter with similar spin to my 915D3, but only if it doesn't have draw bias. Otherwise, 917D3 it will have to be.

Well, I at least saw 8.5, 9.5, and 10.5 in both heads. I would assume maybe a 7.5 in the D3 and 12 in the D2. redboard, blueboard, and whiteboard in the limited series, the new Rogue with the red accents, and a Fujikura Pro Tour spec (slightly different finish than the one out now). Was also told speeder 757 would be a no charge option

I hit the line yesterday. Very good. Shapes are more refined and the sound is much improved.

Yes, at Saratoga National. They are 1 on 1 by appointment, with the local Tiitleist sales rep and our Director of Instruction.

I've also heard we may actually get these things in hand by late October, which would be really sweet!

Thank you! I'm pretty happy as is. I just put the Titleist in play a day ago. Heard nothing but good things about the 917 Driver and fairways. If they beat my current driver and fairway. I'll upgrade for sure. I'll probably try and get the best numbers with the stock shaft offerings without the upgrading and pull my Obans and put in the 917 line up!

I'm just as excited and interested in the 917 lines as the next guy, but does anyone else feel like it's the same story with almost every new series of Titleist woods? There's always this build up of chatter (i.e. increase in numbers out on tour, positive results, and promises), and then once launched and the "newness" wears off the consensuses ends up being average... I really hope this time and this series of woods is different...

Yeah I tend to agree as well. Seems like they are unfortunately behind with movable CG, and theARC in in 915 series that ... that being said it doesn't mean that it's bad tech, just nothing groundbreaking
