Glad to hear the 917 is a more muted thwack than the 915. I demoed a 915 last year, and the loud metallic sound really turned me off, it didn't sound like a normal Titleist driver. I'll be trying a 917...

Recently heard at a Titleist Thursday that fittings will begin on 9/17 with a mass release in October. Currently torn on trying to find a D3 in specs I was fit for or wait it out.

I was in the same situation. I did a Titleist Thursday fitting, did not pull the trigger right then and there, but when the prices dropped to $349 on the 915, I pulled the trigger. I was either going to do that or wait for the 917. I figured the 917 will be $499+ and I wouldn't get it unit November or so when they hit the market. Not regretting the decision one bit.

I think I'll wait for all the "newness" and "chatter" to die down until seriously consider purchasing these.

 

Don't get me wrong I think they look great and hope they perform even better. But, so far I haven't found or heard much difference between the 910, 913, or 915 lines in terms of performance-and that's coming from a huge Titleist guy who's owned and gamed all of them.

 

I really hope this 917 line is much better in terms of performance, sound, feel, and looks.

Hit it yesterday a handful of times. Can't really comment on performance as it had too much shaft for me but the sound and feel were sweet....

 

I love my 915 D3, but the sound and feel were far better. The colour would have to grow on me but the head cover was really nice.

The pic of the 917F was taken down by mods. Apparently they have to be the first to post it. Another member sent the pic to me and I can send it to whomever wants it. The pic shows the bottom only and isn't the best quality, but it gives you the idea and is the only photo I've seen on the internet.

Byeong-Hun An won the long drive contest at the PGA using a 917 driver. Not sure how that's possible with a high-spinning Titleist driver against the low-spin monsters like the M1, but apparently it happened. :)

Cool. The toe on the 917 D2 appears to be more rounded than the toe on the 915 D2 to me.

I think the shape is 913 and colours 905 inspired

Yep Sept. 17th somethings going on. Got a 917 update email today from Titleist. They say to save the date for something big coming that day. Maybe a nationwide demo/fitting day?.

 

I am seriously thinking of going to TPI in Oceanside for a driver fitting when they are available there. Anyone ever do that? Its not that much

All these new drivers are within yards of each other. Don't let anyone fool you!!....Period!......I get all the new stuff handed to me every year for free and nothing is significantly better...........Not the King, the M1/M2, G30.......No big difference.......
