There is one thing about the Mevo that it seems people are missing. Because of the size and placement of the Mevo, it can be used on the course. I would not want to use it on course on a Saturday morning, but if the course is not busy, I would see using it to get numbers using your ball.

 

I have a playing lesson with my coach on Friday. I hope my mevo arrives before then and the app is launched on time :)

Hopefully their shipping department is fully staffed and the bust out all 100 today and tomorrow before their next batch of 200 arrives. That's a lot of work for a small company.

It's the only way people should be gap testing with your gaming ball and your gaming swing speed which may be higher than the range due to adrenaline of being in a course situation or lower due to the caution/fear of facing certain shots. We all know we release more fully on the wide open fairway on a par 5 than the short tight par 4 where we need our fairway finder, it will be good to test all this

With another pushback, and lack of notice or apology, I wouldn't be surprised if FS delivers a crappy beta-like mevo. I sincerely hope not but we've seen this before many times.... A company draws up a product at a friendly price, hoard of people jump in, company gets overwhelmed, gives out false promises, then finally delivers, and people find out it is not ready for launch.. (remember Ouya?)

 

I can understand lack of execution, but lack of clarity and communication is troublesome to me.

Just got off the phone with Flightscope. They got their shipment in a day or so later than promised and are doing their shot testing on the units. He said if I don't have a tracking number by tomorrow to call back. He was apologetic and very upfront with the details.

 

I'm a bit annoyed that they missed their date, but I'm glad they test all of the units as they come in before they ship them out. I'm apparently number 9 on the list so as soon as I get something I'll share it here.

Given the timing of the April 6 e-mail, I suspected it was a delay in receipt of the units. I'm fine with the delay. This is a toy, not a cure for cancer...

I know a guy who was told he is among the top 5 to order a MEVO and as of today has heard nothing other than the original email promising yesterday as the shipment start date. Since he hasn't heard anything yet I don't see getting mine before the end of the month if then (closer to 100 than 1)

Why is when you call FS, The people who work in sales have not even seen the Mevo other then the video. Isn't sales and distribution in Orlando in the same building?

Since your in the first 100 orders, push them on if the units are really there. I really got the impression that the first units are MIA and "testing" is a way of buying them time until they get it sorted out.

Who knows if they even exist. I remember in my motorcycle days, Durrani was taking orders for sets of new wheels, magnesium wheels at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. After months of "shipment delayed", "testing failed", etc. the company went out of business. I don't recall whether refunds were issued but quite possible that those funds were used for a failed development.

I've put it all together now.

 

1. One of the scenes in the MEVO promo video is a father and daughter out on the course using a MEVO; with a cutaway to a later scene with both sitting in their living room, reviewing the results presumably from that day's on-course tracking session.

 

2. The MEVO tracks baseball (presumably softball too) pitch speeds and hitting spin.

 

3. Eventually, MEVO may track ball/puck speeds in other sports (soccer, la crosse, hockey, etc.).

 

Putting all of the above together, it dawned on me:

This thing isn't just marketed to avid golfers. It's marketed to the insane club sports parent that wants to track their budding young superstar's ball speed, pitch speed, kick velocity, etc.!!!

 

Which perfectly explains some the irrational complaints in this thread about delivery being two weeks late... Seriously. It's a flipping toy...

Update: Still shot testing and hoping to get them out on Friday. If that's true, I'll have one in hand by Tuesday or Wednesday since I live in flyover country.

 

Just sharing what I know. I'm excited to get my hands on one. I've been patient since early February, I can be patient for another week as long as they seem to be upfront with me on the phone. Now if they are still shot testing on Friday...that will be a different story.

Now that I've had some time to think about it. I wonder if FS is doing more testing on these first 100 units to see what the tolerance is for receiving a bad unit. I bet they got some prototypes and are now testing out how the production scales to a general release.
