Driving a 555 yard par 5

At the risk of sounding ignorant I'll pose this question. Has anyone, or would anyone attempt this during the tournament? I know nothing of the prevailing winds or if this is a difficult or easy hole (if easy the risk/reward would never be there) because I've never keenly followed the action at Bay Hill in the past. A 350 carry is monsterous to be sure, but with a strong crosswind there are guys who could drive that onto or around the green leaving themselves an assured birdie or probable eagle. Just wondering really

The risk/reward ratio would probably keep most guys from trying it. Even the long drivers had issues. It looked like they each had a few tries and we only saw 5-6 balls make it? If you tried it in a tournament and (probably) failed, it's basically a S&D penalty and you're 3 off the tee. Not worth it.

The thing that stood out for me was not the guys hitting it forever but the ridiculous voice of the narrator! Almost gave up on watching it for that reason.

Didn't John Daly try to drive the green at the 1998 Bay Hill? I'm pretty sure that was the year he scored 18 on the hole.

I was just looking at the leader board on pgatour and clicked on one of my pool picks Tyrell hatton and he was playing this hole....Then I clued in what this topic was about when I saw the overhead they have these days on the leaderboard...lol.

I think so yeah. He hit 3-4 balls into the water iirc.
