The crowd really appreciated that magic at #7 by the great Phil Mickelson. :)

Is Phil amazing? One month shy of his 47th birthday and he is still in the OWGR's top 20.

Since the inception of the OWGR (April 1986) no player has logged more weeks in the top 20 than Phil.

Yet he's never been #1. Goes back to the question of whether you'd rather be a Luke Donald to get to #1 for a short time and fall off or never be #1 but have the consistency of someone like Phil.

Same goes for Charles Howell III on TOUR. Just two wins but he's usually in the top 100 of the money list every year.

Id rather have that Phil cash.

Heard he turned that T-Rex skull into a cool chandelier in the dining room.

Never reaching the #1 spot is certainly a hole in Phil's CV, but I'm sure he values longevity and consistency a little more, as I'm sure most people would.

One thing that I think that might have helped (a HUGE understatement) Phil get to #1 was to have won a US Open. Points for that .... large.

Also, he had the Tiger effect, which, admittedly, many others had also, but between Phil's self-imposed implosions at the US Open, Tiger's amazing run...to have stayed in the top 20 for the length of time that he has...I would take that as opposed to #1 any day, any time any where.

Too bad that I can't get out to the Wells Fargo today. Guess I'll just have to do with watching it on TV, with no 700 yard hikes to an un-air conditioned bathroom, no crowds in front of my TV, no $9.75 beers.....wait, I guess I don't really have it all that bad!

Is that really a question......Phil's career or Luke's?

Actually, had complimentary tickets, but don't much care for crowds, and can't see all the action around the course when you're there "live"

Was there for the first round, and have a good feel for the course, and what the players are facing.
