These are some good looking irons. I haven't gamed Titleist find I had some 710 AP2s. Might be time to start considering a switch.

is it just me, or does the AP3 look like it could be better used as a driving iron than the TMB?

I thought so too from appearance but I need to see the offset with my own eyes and check the SW/ head weight.

I am concerned about the 718 T-MB because it supposedly launches higher than the 716 which for me would be problematic.

Hoping this is the case! With a 3-iron in AP3 likely at 20*. You could easily shaft er up and create a nice driving iron. I think most are concerned with possibly too much offset. If it isn't offset crazy, Im confident it will be a winner as a driving iron

Those 718 AP2 irons look great. I haven't owned a set of Titleist irons since a set of ZMs, which I liked a lot. I wonder if these will have the same lofts as the prior models or will they decrease the lofts like seems is the trend these days. I have been a Callaway guy for a long time, but the AP2's have my attention. They look beautiful!

I got to hit the new 718 AP2s a couple of days ago and they are so much better than the 716s. Personally, the 714s I had were close to the best set of irons I've ever bagged. I tried to like the 716s but never could get along with them. They were the first version of AP2 irons I never actually played.

Anyways, back to the 718 AP2s. These things have more tungsten this year so forgiveness and ball flight are both dialed in. There's not much change in the shape or size. The AP2s are the number one played irons on tour so they can't change much without ticking pros off. I don't know if Titleist switched to a softer metal or the additional tungsten changed the feel, but they are much softer than last cycle's version. In fact, they are the softest AP2s I can recall. The look of these things are amazing. They look like an expensive piece of jewelry. It will definitely add bling to your bag. Titleist did a great job on the aesthetics of the club.

They look very similar. I didn't ask the rep how they compared to the 714s and I didn't have a set of the 714s to compare them to at the time. In my personal opinion, I felt like the 714 and 716 AP2s were almost identical in shape and size, with the exception of the lower cross bar in the pocket cavity of the 716 version. The 718s are almost identical in shape and size to the 716s from what I was told while I hit them. I would venture to say that the 718s and 714s are almost identical in shape and size as well. The best way I can describe them is a softer more forgiving version of the 714s. The short irons might have a slightly lower initial trajectory than what I remember from my 714s. That could be the shaft or my attack angle that day so it's not a true comparison.

Thanks. I'll have to hit the 718s when I have an opportunity. Playing the 714s now and the only thing i wish for is a softer feel.

Thanks for the review. I'm pretty excited about the 718 AP2. I have the 716 and they are the best irons "I've" ever owned by mile. They've just been exactly what I want out of an iron as far as look, size, offset, playabilty ect. They're starting to get some browning on the faces, so if the 718 are on par or better than 716's I 100% in (but man I can't see them really being any better

Yea, I was hoping for August as well... Hopefully the rep that sent that email to the shop owner is wrong or mistaken... I've emailed Titleist twice now asking for the release date and have not received a response. I've even asked when we can expect to hear more info (i.e. specs, stock shafts, tech info, etc...) and still no response from Titleist Customer Service...

I always find it interesting how they have the "Tour Validation" period. Has there ever been a Titleist product that went through the validation period that was not validated by the tour pros? Seems more like a dog and pony show than a validation.

Also, anyone else find it strange that the sales meeting for Titleist is in Carlsbad this year, with no golf outing. Certainly a lot cheaper on the bottom line than taking the reps to Pinehurst for a round. Could things be getting tight?
