Taylormade would like to see an option for a graphite shaft from the website. Absolutely love my UDI and it will be hard to replace but this looks like it could possibly have better turf interaction. I could do some testing for you guys

Doubtful. They are just getting them for testing. They don't all use 2 irons every week.

I like the looks of them, plus their Forged. Then again, I've really been fan of everything TM this year.

 

I have the 770 3 iron with steelfiber shaft and I'm real pleased with it, especially off the tee.

I like this a lot, and I am not a TM guy. The P730's look like a throw away design from a company that actually makes nice blades, but this is unique and very cool.

I was on the TM website just last week begging for a UDI replacement through that instant messenger thing, can't believe how quickly they responded!

 

Though now I'm annoyed they suggest I just bend an M1 to the specs I wanted when these were in the pipeline.

Can we pretty, pretty, pretty please get a 1 iron too? I know I can take the 2 and bend it, and that the 1 is a club I'm going to use on the course like twice a year, but it would still be awesome to have and it's even cooler if it actually says 1 on it.

Biggest regret with the original UDIs is that I didn't grab a 1 iron while I could.

I'm fully aware, I was trying to be funny or something.

 

Honestly, bending the M1s probably creates a great club performance wise, but there's something more enjoyable about a true driving iron.

I've got a UDI 2 and a M1 3 iron bent to 16 degrees, the M1 isn't a bad club and can be had for much cheaper than a UDI.

Very clean, solid looking iron. Appears to be Taylormade's response to the hollow bodied players iron (PXG, Titleist TMB) Hopefully the performance is there to match the looks.

Earlier in the thread TaylorMade said the P790 is a "forged distance iron." The UDI is such a good club and their recent forgings have been great, so I have no doubt the P790 is going to be a winner. I can't wait to try them. I'm currently playing a UDI 2 and then transition into a 4-iron, which leaves a bit of a gap. I'm interested in trying the P790 2-iron as a UDI replacement and also a 4-iron to replace my existing 4-iron.

Does anyone know if there will be a difference between the P790 irons and the P790 UDI irons? Is this just an extra stamping or is there an actual difference. Also, it appears the 790 will have considerably more offset than the UDIs, 3.0mm vs 3.9mm in the 3 iron version. Can anyone confirm?
