Big, kinda fat guys, lets talk shirts

I have a really hard time finding relaxed fit shirts that fit comfortably and do not accentuate any more than necessary that I am kind of fat. (6'1, athletic build, 205 in young man skiing prime, but now running nearly two-fiddy). I really like my IPA's...anyway.....

 

I prefer untucked, so they need to be the proper length as well. The best fit I can find anywhere is the Greg Norman line in 2x. Can usually find great deals on them at Rockbottom, but its been a while since they have anything over xl that isn't red or peach.

 

If you resemble this, and have any brands and sizes of shirts that fit you well, what are they?

I have had the best luck with the Kohl's Grandslam shirts. I am 6'1 and in the north of 240 range. Former rugby player with broad shoulders built like a barrel. What I like is the 3 button placket isn't uncomfortable, where other 2 buttons are.

I'm 6'1" 270 and I'm just now going from large to xl (was 215 this time last year, got engaged and married, and packed on the pounds). I would imagine a 2x being a tent in you.

 

When I was 330 10 years ago I wore a 2x. I hated life.

 

I've found FJ shirts and Izod shirts to be my favorites. FJ because they have good stretch and are pretty long. Izod are also longer. My problem was that my shirts came untucked at the belly, and those stayed in better due to length and stretch.

I like the GMac line quite a bit, tech fiber but not too clingy. Tommy Bahama emfielder polo shirts are great in a tall if you don't mind steaming the curly collars.

I'm in the same boat. 6'3" 255 and wear a 2xl. I like the under armour shirts from the outlet. I like these bc they're a little thicker than some and don't make me look like a fat baby.

6'2" 270. I'm most comfortable in Under Armour. I have a long torso and these hang just below the belt line on me with enough width through the shoulders that I don't feel like I'm flashing people in my backswing. They also don't climb the belly like adidas, nike, and oakley shirts do when you squat down or lift your arms. Side benefit is they last forever, I have several that are more than 5 years old with no noticeable wear or fading.

You need a nice relax fit shirt, i find lots of them in Adidas, Greg Norman(which to me run LARGE), Haggar, and Under Armour.

I actually prefer Callaway apparel. I'm 6'5, 280, and love the way 2x tall fits. Never untucks, and comfortable through the swing.

6'5" and just a bit north of 300 and I have noticed in the last couple years that UA.com carries a ton more talls now in most of their shirts. It's nice to finally be able to dry shirts like a normal human and not hang dry everything.

Right? I might like to wear mine a touch big for comfort and camo, but if I threw on a regular large shirt it would be about as cute as if I wore my petite wifes thongs to the beach........

Truthfully this past year, I have started just buying Harbor Bay banded bottom shirts from DXL. They are comfortable and cut so as to not cling. They are not as stylish as some of the pure golf shirts out there but they are not unsightly either... great for us normal weekend warrior kind of guys I think.

I'll throw a vote for UA size xl. Similar story to yours. 6'1" 240 but 10 years ago when I was still an athlete I was a fit 220. Effing beer but. Anyway, I too go untucked and have never felt like my gut was hanging out while swinging. My only complaint about them is the collar and buttons. Specifically the older styles with 3 buttons. If I have 2 undone, the neck is too "open" and sloppy looking IMO. One button is too tight around my neck. A little double sided tape has helped me there. Newer styles with 2 buttons are my long term solution though. I'm insanely anal and specific about a shirts fit and feel though so maybe that's just me.

Def try Alial Fital, I'm 6"0 250 and they're without question the most comfortable shirts I've found.

Try out a Peter Millar Summer Comfort shirt. They are relaxed fitting. I'm 6'3" and 225 and the large is what I normally wear. I could get away with a medium if I really wanted to. I wear XL in their outerwear and it all works together great. Most comfortable shirts I've ever worn. You can get some good deals on them when they have sales a couple of times a year. I got 5 shirts in August for 50% off.

6'2 and 265 .. and on the way down !! 50 jacket, 40 pants. Nike 2XL or Adidas 2XL for me

 

Though our pro grabbed us interclub shirts this year from UA in 3xl and they are amazing compared to last year's shirts. A very lightweight and comfy fit

I hated it growing up. I never wore what everyone else had on because I had to buy "husky" clothes. My brothers made sure to remind me that husky meant fat.

6'1" here and about 240. I wear a 39 waist, and a 46-48L jacket. I've found that the Under Armour XXL is just the right fit for me or as mentioned above, the Peter Millar shirts. If it's no the modern fit, an XL is plenty big in both the summer comfort and regular.

Another good one I kind of forgot about is the Callway Golf Clothing line in Big and tall. They also almost always have pretty good clearance deals on their website. Could be going away with Callaway buying Travis Matthew though.

I just bought some 38's, and I have to wear a belt to keep them up. I also have some large shirts that fit, some that don't quite fit, and some that fit like compression shirts. Depends on the brand and cut. I don't know how they still fit to be honest. I just bought a pack of Lucky Brand t-shirts in large, and they fit fine. I bought a pack of RL t-shirts the same day in XL (though "slim cut") and they look like spandex.

6'4" and 280 here and I wear Puma, Adidas, Nike 2XL in their non tailored fits just fine. Callaway and UA tall shirts are the bomb for never coming untucked

I was sweaty (just finished a workout in about 90 deg heat), it was stuck to me and my wife was leaning on me. It's really not tight. Either way, point being some shirts are cut different, just need to try them on and see how they fit. Us larger guys already have enough volume to look big, and shirts that fit like a tarp don't help at all. Bigger, loose clothing on a big guy will only make them look even bigger.

6'3" and just a twinkie over 300, i prefer IZOD golf shirts from Belk, 2XLT fits perfect. Adidas has some nice 2XLT t-shirts as well.
