Just yesterday I bought a Turtleson XL polo at the pro shop for 50% off. Being a cheapskate, I mean thrifty, it is still more expensive than I like to pay but it has a larger fit and the fabric is very comfortable. The fit seems to be a little larger than most of the XLs I have but it is nice, roomy enough to be able to move but not huge like the XXLs I sometimes get in other brands.

Now maybe all top of line "performance fabric" shirts feel this way but so far I definitely do not like wearing the new fabrics because it feels like I'm wearing plastic. Earlier in the year I picked up an Antigua brand in a different pro shop with league winnings and it feels pretty nice too, one of my favorites for feel. The fit is larger but I might have bought an XXL in that one, I don't remember at the moment.

I have found that Footjoy and Donald Ross are the best fit for me (6'3" 280). The original fit Fairway and Greenes are good but the sleeves are to long . Sometimes Adidas will work depending on the cut .

I'm 6'2'' and 250 lbs. 38 waist and 30 inseam. It'd be nice if there was a 37 waist with out getting them tailored, hahaha.

Any way, on to the shirts. I've worn an XL in everything for the last 15 years, but as of the last few years they have gotten huge!

I wear mainly adidas and in a few models I've gone down to a large. The biggest issue is the length, most polo shirts are too short.

The best shirts out there right now are Adidas, Under Armor, and Carnoustie Tech. FJ gets an honorable mention, but they're huge... even in a large, more of a "large plus".

Cutter & Buck does offer a few styles in Big and Tall too.

I'm 6'3", have been as high as 250 pounds. My waist has always been bigger than most, and I have had moobs (or was self conscious of them) since I was young. Most of my adult life, I've weighed about 225, or so, with a 42" waist. I lost about 25-30 pounds over last winter deliberately. When I bought exact waist size 42 to replace my very comfortable expand waist 42's, I could not button the exact waist pants. But I digress.

It might seem stupid, but no matter what I weigh, golf shirts have always looked sloppy, especially the moobs. Many years ago, I took to wearing SS OCBD shirts for golf. I've been wearing them since. They always look neat and tidy, and come in all colors. I've worn button downs throughout my entire life, business and pleasure, and find them comfortable.

On sale, you can buy 5 or so, for the price of one of the popular "golf" shirts.

Just a comment, for what it's worth.

Try it, you might like it.

That ain't no joke! I just bought 2 pair of 38 waist because the more weight I gain, I only have 1 pair of my 36 that still fit, and they're getting a bit snug. One pair of the 38 bunches up a bit under my belt, the other one doesn't bunch but if I don't wear a belt they will slide down. A 37 would be perfect.

No fat shaming in my fat guy thread here please.

I found this brand that fits pretty well. It might show a tiny bit more of my midriff than I would like, but making a big shoulder turn is relaxed and comfy.

What do you think?

perfect. Is that the "slim fit"? lol

Athletic Fit is the preferred verbiage.

I'm 6' 1" and 240ish. Depending on the brand I wear either XL or 2XL. Either the XL is just a tad too small or the 2XL is a tent. I have a hard time finding a good fit.

I recently purchased a few shirts off Amazon made by Augusta Sportswear. The 2XL fits very well and they are only $22 each. I bought 5 of them and they look and feel great.

6 ft, 275 lbs 38" waist, it's all in the legs/chest/arms. Clothing in general can be a b**** to fit, I really like Ashworth shirts in XL and FJ in Large (sleeves are still too long IMO). I've always thought Nike and UA are way too tight, would need XXL in both, not a fan of Adidas quality. I just got one Peter Millar polo in XL and other than being just a smidge too baggy and slightly translucent it's great quality and might have to move down to L but I'll most likely buy more.

Maybe different "symptoms" but the same struggle. I'm 6' and 240 (56" shoulders/ 46" chest/ 36" waist) - in other words, I'm built like Shrek - and have been watching this thread intently. Please don't kick us out!!! Ha Ha!!

In all honesty, it has gotten really hard for "husky" guys to look good on the course. Hell, even fit guys like Jason Day look like clowns in the stuff being sold today. It's either made to look like body paint or a giant inflatable lawn decoration.

Maybe we can enlist Chilidog to help us start up a "husky golfer" line of golf apparel. We'll call it "HG Links Apparel." We can develop a logo based off a Siberian Husky and market it to "Golfers who are BIG on style."

Think about it! HG Links Apparel: we're BIG on golf!

I'm 6'1" 270 and I'm just now going from large to xl (was 215 this time last year, got engaged and married, and packed on the pounds). I would imagine a 2x being a tent in you.

When I was 330 10 years ago I wore a 2x. I hated life.

I've found FJ shirts and Izod shirts to be my favorites. FJ because they have good stretch and are pretty long. Izod are also longer. My problem was that my shirts came untucked at the belly, and those stayed in better due to length and stretch.

I totally agree with the FJ shirts. I'm 6'2" just under 260 lbs. And I still where a Large for when I'm playing the course and XL for lounging! They are extremely comfortable

As a fat guy myself for shirts I find the Adidas XXL or 3XL to be the best, somehow UA are snug. Nike no chance, FootJoy LOL, Original Penguin is second skin. Now RLX/Polo I haven't tried them but their stuff is usually cut well for bigger guys. I also haven't tried Callaway Big & Tall just cause they never go on sale or if they do are way too big for what I need.

I’ve been extremely happy with Rhoback and William Murray. The XXL sizes are perfect and appropriately classic fit.

how big are you?  i was thinking og trying rhoback but have heard from a few that sizing was small or used to be small....cant remember which way it went. i am 6' 265 lbs and was thinking of trying their XXL.  i typically wear Peter Millar in Crown Sport XL and it fits great.

I'm about 6' and bounce between 275 and 285. I'm just a solid unit, so I am most often comfortable in classic fit and relaxed fit. I also wear a size 50 jacket comfortably.

I will say this, I think the Peter Millar, Rhoback and William Murray XXL's fit more like my Adidas XXL polos. I tend to find that Oakley fits more of a tall XXL and are a bit more slim fitting. Same with Criquet shirts. I love the material (like an old school Polo material), but even their classic fits seem to be getting tailored more toward the slim fit end of the XXL spectrum.

It's literally why Rhoback and William Murray can just go ahead and take all of my money. I haven't found polos that I'm happier and more comfortable in. To an extent, I'd probably throw Southern Tide and Vineyard Vines classic cuts in the mix, but I'm not a huge fan of the Southern Tide collars.

I need to hang with some of you.

6'0 220lb.

Was an athlete and veteran 20 years ago.  Seems like everywhere I play I'm the fattest guy out there.

I want to be the skinny one!

XL in Nike and Adidas.  I also like the "block" shirts.

You can wear lighter colors that are dark in the front and not see through.

Try out a Peter Millar Summer Comfort shirt. They are relaxed fitting. I'm 6'3" and 225 and the large is what I normally wear. I could get away with a medium if I really wanted to. I wear XL in their outerwear and it all works together great. Most comfortable shirts I've ever worn. You can get some good deals on them when they have sales a couple of times a year. I got 5 shirts in August for 50% off.

This, Im about 6'1 205-210 depending on what i eat/drink over a wkend 🙂

Anyways the large regular peter millar was huge on me.  I wear a large in everything.  The tailored fit large works great for me.

They are awesome shirts and I'm waiting for another sale.  Might try a medium in the regular fit stuff as they make a lot more in regular fit than tailored.

Found some Puma 3XL shirts on discount, they're solid, pretty thin, length is nice, width varies on the version/cut. Will have to give them a try to see what I think.

Still need to get some new shorts, thinking of the Callaway shorts a try but man they are expensive. Hope I can find some locally.

New job and the COVID restrictions haven't been kind on my body and neither have I.

Love to see if I can revive this thread.  I’m 5’10”, 205 with an XXL neck, XL shoulders, L chest, XL gut, and M arms.  I usually wear Peter Millar but XL is too big while L is too small.  I’ve had a few XLs altered so the sleeves don’t go to my elbows and flap like flags in the breeze but that’s such a pain in the butt. Anybody out there make golf shirts for guys with dad bods and three chins.
