Any rap/hip-hop fans in here? Kanye and Kid Cudi just came out with a joint EP/Mixtape, "Kids See Ghosts." I'm not quite sure if this is a generational album or pure hot garbage, but I can't stop listening...

yes. I haven't listened to it yet. Seen it getting talked up on twitter.

I go through phases where I listen to more books/pods instead of music and I've been in such a phase.

Nerf and Boogs and others listen to plenty of hip hop.

Golf channel just did a bit where a guy dropped a ball on the 18th at Shiny and it rolled all the way off the front.

The funny part was when they followed the ball all the way down, there was a player standing right where the ball wound up hitting chips back up onto the green.

That's called prep. Couldn't tell who it was.

Very true. Only played once but it’s up and down a hill on most of the holes. Also, if we are trying to break the 63 hole record (I’m game) then walking might not be in the cards

Little Bennett is a terrible walk. One of the worst in the area. I might do it if I was only playing 18 holes and I was really itching to walk. Definitely not for an entire day.

I've never actually walked LB, but closest thing I can imagine is that it's like Waverly Woods but hillier. There's a few long and hilly transfers.

I used to walk and carry 9 homes for exercise during winter golf. Had some weird encounters with the fox on the 9th hole bridge!!

18 is crazy but great course though

I might tee off with putter on #3 if it's firm and mowed tight. Last year I remember everyone hitting short wedges and having no chance of holding the green with how downhill it is.

Last year I played chauffeur for Dave Chens Sons Friend, and we had a little Father-Not-Son bonding going on. I'm no longer allowed within 500 yards of him, so if he comes we have to be separated by a few groups.

The Woodlands is not a walk-able course. The transition between 2 and 3 and 17 and 18 is almost a half mile.

Yeah, I’m an idiot for even asking the walking or riding question. Lol

No you're not. We do have some crazy walkers in this group, but with a whole day of golf combined with the terrain and layout, that's a beast.

Woodlands would be a great walk except for those two transfers. Ridiculous that you can come that close to building a walkable course, but blow it like that. It is still walkable, but annoyingly so.

Saw that this morning on the gram. Also saw that Phil Kenyon posted the green chart of the 18th green - its bonkers. There are no flat spots on the green and really no place to put a pin that is truly flat.

GC also did a cool clip last night on the grounds crew using new moisture measuring devices on the green. They are GPS enabled so they go out, take say 50 readings per green and then bring up the chart when they are back in the office. Shows them how much water they need and where it needs it.

Was also cool that they are using drone flyovers with 3 types of thermal camera in them to measure how beat up the fairways are getting. Provides a map of the course with the spots where the grass is starting to get distressed.

That's cool, DC. I would've liked to see that.

On the other hand, it's a shame that the USGA has taken all the advancements in agronomy and the associated tech that have been developed over the years and uses them for evil, so to speak. They take these things that can be used to make golf courses cheaper and easier to sustain, twist them into ways to push golf courses to ridiculous limits, and then flaunt it to the entire world like it's some sort of ideal.

You know, ole Shinny-c0ck probably wasn't designed to have greens equally receptive as the pavement in the parking lot, running at 13+ on the stimp.

It'd be interesting if for once, the USGA would keep their grubby paws out of the cookie jar, and just let the host venue take care of setting up the course as they normally would. I don't think Shinnecock would be any less compelling this week if the USGA had never touched the course following Coore's restoration work, and just let the maintenance team there set the course up. Let the USGA pick the pin and tee locations, and be done.

Wouldn't be a US Open without players b1tching.

So Pine Ridge this weekend is having a "get your car washed while you play".

I would love to do that. I never wash my car and mostly because I just can't be bothered. Sounds like a legit car wash, too. $50, but you get. . .

  • Vacuum
  • Bug & Tar Removal
  • Thorough Exterior Hand Wash & Dry
  • Clean Wheels & Apply Premium Tire Dressing
  • Dash & Cup Holder Area Cleaned
  • Clean Windows In and Out
  • Exhaust Tips Cleaned
