I, for one, don't play. Tried it one or two years and didn't enjoy it. I heard the work league is dying (dead?) and it's been going for 20 years.

I was on 59 watch out at TV-O on Tuesday, until I piped my opening tee shot into the creek and 3-putted from 15ft for double.

I’m a commish of two leagues and just a member of another and there’s been zero drop off in interest in my leagues. Most of us are diehards so any of the kneeling and rules changes would have zero effect on us. I can’t get enough of the foosball.

FWIW, I literally don't know a single actual person who gives a crap about them taking a knee.

Our office league is still around. We pay in beer instead of cash. High score for the week gets a six pack from low score for the week.

 

At the end of the playoffs, everyone buys a case of beer. I think first place gets 7 cases, second gets 3 cases, and 3rd gets 2 cases or something.

The other day PQ and I have to punch out to like 100 yards on the 15th. Fabb is up on the green. I hit a wedge to like 8 feet. Fabb, "oh, nice shot city."

 

Q hits one that looks like it's right next to the pin. I say to Q, "is that right next to the pin? It looks good."

 

Q, "I guess not. Fabb didn't say anything. Must have rolled out."

 

Then as we're walking to the green, Fabb walks up and knocks Q's ball away. It was a foot. I think he hurt PQ's feelings.

I did say "nice shot" to him. I may have even given him a "great shot!" but I don't recall. My wispy voice doesn't carry, so I guess he didn't hear me.

 

I was also mad because I was looking good to solo that hole for 5 points until you dinks hit a pair of superb wedges. I still thought I had it when I was walking the birdie putt in, but it shiggled out at the very end.

Also in fantasy sports:

 

We do office drafts for each of the golf majors as well.

 

Winner gets 2 six-packs from each of the other participants

 

You draft your first 6 guys who are "active". Best 4 scores count.

 

You also draft 2 "bench" players who you can activate for an additional 6-pack each. Still best 4 scores count. Activations have to be before the third round starts.

 

So if you activate both bench guys, you're on the hook for 4 six-packs to the winner. Unless you win.

 

I'm not a big beer drinker.... So when I won the British Open I got bottles of red wine. One dude still hasn't paid me, but I already have 8 or 9 bottles of wine. We're set to bring wine to dinner parties for the next 2 years.

Both of the football leagues I'm have people spread out. The league I run has a guy in Vegas and one in MA. I think there is one or two that have moved to the Philly area now. The rest of us are in the general DMV area.

 

The other league I'm in...well I can't even use PayPal to pay my entry fee so this will be my last year in that league. I'm the only out-of-tower in that league so I'm the oddball. The guy that's runs the league was in law school in the early 2000's and had a class that talked about some issues with PayPal so he refuses to use them to this day. So annoying. If we paid in beer it would be much less annoying.

watching round of 16 US AM yesterday. Had totally forgotten about the 2 up with 2 to go collapse last year. . .and that the first playoff hole was #10 at Riviera.

I tuned in for about five minutes and in that stretch saw 4-5 missed very short putts.

 

On one, the guy just straight pulled it. Badly. Zinger jumped up and said "I think that putt BROKE UPHILL."

That was on the 18th. Bling.

 

He missed from short, then his opponent (Goodwin) missed from shorter (literally, maybe 2 feet) to win the win the match and then went on to lose the match. When Goodwin missed from short, Bling gave it to him and he was like 1 inch inside of Bling. Goodwin didn't give the putt to Bling.

 

Pebble's greens are the hardest greens to putt on the PGA (moreso late in the day). It's no surprise to see these guys miss some bunnies. It's part of the fun and makes this a very nerve-wracking event.

Sure. But my car is tiny. And it's a one way street with traffic coming from the other direction, so it doesn't obstruct your view at all.

No curb paint. I previously thought the law was not to park within 3 feet of a driveway, which I'm outside of in this picture. Though after looking it up, apparently it's 5 feet. So I guess it's an illegal parking job by a foot or so. I'm still contesting it because why not, but I'm probably gonna have to suck it up and pay.

I'd bring a few shirts. You're going to have dew points in the 74ºF area. You're in the upper end of "oppressive", but you're not quite in "miserable" so you got that going for you, which is good.

 

We walked to and from yoga yesterday, about a mile away. I was soaked coming home (at like 9 pm) and I looked at dew points and it was 75ºF.

Had a funzo round yesterday with Top.h. Decided to meet for lunch and a few pints at RAR, then roll out to my home course Nutters Crossing. Course is getting right for the Club Championship this weekend. Was kind of a throw away round, working on a few things and just trying to get some fresh air and one last look at things. I had a bad case of the lefts on the front, and sorta straightened it out on the back. But had a blast with Top.h...he's welcome on the shore anytime. (And I wish him the best today with a 330 teetime at Lighthouse...)
