cut my pinky finger, how long to get better?

On a cold day last week, I pulled the car door handle off my car and some how I cut myself. It's about 1 inch long and about a skins depth deep. I didn't get stitches :-(.

 

I have tried practicing with it and it hurts to swing and have no power in the grip. I feel like a beginner. Anyone have a similar experience? how long will it take to get better? Tanner

I I think if you know how to play golf you will know how long it takes for a simple cut to heal. Have you never cut yourself before?

slightly off topic but the middle finger of my right hand suddenly got swollen a few weeks ago for no apparent reason..

 

since i couldn't recall how it got this way and the other 4 fingers were functioning normally i thought a few days rest would solve the problem..

 

when the swelling and pain didn't go away after a few days i consulted my doctor and he recommended to take anti-inflammatory meds and fortunately it worked and the finger became normal after a few days..

 

i then realized that this one finger was very important for my 2 main sports--olympic archery and golf--and i couldn't do any of them when the

finger was swollen..

 

any injury to our hands should immediately be handled as although we may not realise it at the time the hands normally play a very important role in most active sports..

 

in retrospect my doctor surmised i had probably traumatised the finger somehow without realising it..

Super glue and some basic 3M white medical tape and you are good to go. Since you started a thread about this I'm guessing you may take a little longer than the average bear to heal. ;-)

 

My second hole in one came with my left pinky buddy taped to the ring finger after dislocating the top 2/3 of it - suck it up and get out there, may have some record scores!

As an auto mechanic I tend to get hand cuts all the time. Best remedy I have found is to soak your hand in warm water and Epsom salt. For a few minutes for a few days. Cuts cure time in half.If it's a bad cut in a place that gets rubbed during swing super glue works great.

The course is built on a dormant volcano...........it's gorgeous, has a 250 yard forced carry off a cliff on one hole. I was not about to back out of it.

My sister and brother in law stayed there for a week at the 4 seasons last spring. Super jealous.

That's the one. Nevis is a fantastic island trip. the 4 Seasons, incredible. It is pricey, we went because it was last trip before our 1st kid. I always want to go back, maybe when the last kid is done with college :)

 

The course is a beast. Bermuda grass, lots of grade and slope changes. Plus the wind.

Pretty sure if OP posts up a vid of that cut several folks will be happy to analyze or post up YouTube guru vids that will given him all sorts of options. Probably addressed in a paper cut episode of The Office - and yes, I've had a car door slice as described and it is annoying, believe me more so when it is sub zero and not wearing gloves. Also stuck a tire iron in my finger incorrectly holding it while changing a flat in high school, had it stitched up at the ER and was still able to meet my girlfriend's (apparently low) expectations later that evening - still bear the scar (from the tire iron!).

you know if you went to the doctors they probably could have answered this question for you... they are pretty qualified for these such situations.

Bandaid, white tape, and go. You’ll probably shoot your best score of the year playing with soft hands. Did this 2 years ago (6 stitches in my right pinky) and played the best I had all year due to swinging easier and gentle grip.

Don't know if this will help you, but it might help somebody. I've been changing my grips for years, and have been cutting the old ones off 'away' not towards myself. Well, until the summer of 2016. I had 13 grips cut off the correct way, and for some weird reason, didn't put the last one in the vice and pulled the hook blade toward me. I sliced two fingers literally to the bone just behind the knuckle as you can see in the pic. I was alone, they bled like crazy right away, so I wrapped them in an old towel I had on the work bench in the garage, and drove myself to the hospital 2 blocks away. It became a comical situation as I walked in and said I was beading to death in a calm voice and they said have a seat, to which I replied, 'no really, we should get this stopped', etc, etc, you can imagine, until I took off the towel and dripped on their nice floor. Anyway, 6 weeks for me, so hope that gives you some inkling of recovery time to play from this, and anyone who changes grips that hey, really, cut away from yourself...
