Best Grips - leather putting grips

I decided to go back to gaming my Cameron Select Newport after some flirting with other putters, but I needed to reshaft it to lengthen it a bit.

 

Since it was getting a new shaft, I was going to need a new grip. Fooling around in my basement with my putters, I was reminded of how much I loved the feel of a leather grip. The leather gripped putter I have is 40 years old and the original grip still feels great.

 

After reading the comments here, I ended up ordering a Rancher Paddle from Best Grips and I'm glad I did. It's got a great shape and size, looks great, and feels great.

 

The ordering process was as easy as any online order (I used WRX15 as a code and got a discount- I think the code still works). They followed up with a personal email, which started a brief correspondence.

 

I got the impression that these guys are golf guys and care very much about what their doing. Unsurprisingly, the customer service quality and product quality match. And I think their stuff is Made in the USA.

I was just looking at these grips today. Have you tried any other models? i was debating between the rancher and the micro perf. When they talk about softer than other models, does this mean how squishy they are, or how soft they leather is?

Difference between the Rancher and MicroPerf will be the tack. The MicroPerf, with ProTack, will get tacky when wet. The Rancher, which is oiled, will just manage the moisture.

 

As far as feel goes, they are hard to compare to rubber grips beacuse the leather is both softer and firmer than the feel of rubber. However, as far as our grips go, the MicroPerft will be firmer than the Rancher.

I like them all. I have used the pistol and paddle shape. I prefer the no taper and rounder shape of the paddle grip. I have uesd the GT-L (soft leather and medium to soft frimness, Rancher (soft smooth leather and medium firmness) and Micro Perf (tacky and firm).

 

After using a leather putter grip, I tried the club grips and was hooked. The Micro Perf golf club grips are tacky, soft leather, and firm feel, I don't foresee using rubber grips ever again. BestGrips are my favorite leather grips. The customer service is great and the GolfWRX discount is a huge benefit when gripping a full set.

 

I just wish the limited releases and the custom options were not available because I keep regripping my stock pile of clubs.

I have purchased 3 putter grips, a set of microperfs, my wife uses the rancher on her Scotty, and I got one for my dad's Kia Ma. We love them. I have had nothing less than perfect customer service. I even asked Zach for some specific custom stamping and he nailed it. I can't imagine anything else on my putter and neither can my wife or dad.

I haven’t tried any others; this was my maiden voyage so to speak. It doesn’t feel hard, but it’s not like original Winn grip squishy.

I will have to look into these! My favorite is the Scotty midsize leather and I think best grips or gripmaster makes them? Maybe somebody can correct me here!

I have both Gripmaster and Best grips, both are good but I think the Best grips feel better in your hands and are made a little better. Very pleased Best grips now have mid-size.

Picked up a Betti with a gripmaster and it does have a luxurious feel and smell. Like an old German car.

+1 for Gripmasters. I use the Roo on all my clubs. I don't like wearing a glove and these grips are just awesome. To clean them just wipe them down with a wet rag and they are like new.

Good idea. Just purchased a midsized Gripmaster perforated leather putter grip. I Wish Bestgrips made one as I really like their grips plus they are made in the USA.

Yes, they do have mid-size but only for their iron grips...no putter option.
