I played Cottonwood last week, it was in the best shape I have ever seen it. Fairways were tight and the greens were rolling well. Always enjoy the layout there.

Shot 74 from the blue last week there...hit one 339 on 10....never sniff 315 but the fairways were running...love elevation....

Nice I was 5 under through 10 and then limped home in 71, hit one about 40 yards ob on 14? I think, coward...

Jasper is dialed right in at the moment. Only one green on the back nine seemed under pareview for a complaint.

I'm located in Calgary and I've got a free afternoon on Saturday. Looking to play a course I've never played before. Here's what I'm thinking:

- Elbow Springs

- Inglewood

- Heritage Pointe

Suggestions? Anything not on the list that you'd recommend? I think the only courses I've missed over the past few years (that are reasonable driving distance) would be Lynx Ridge, McKenzie Meadows, Muirfield Lakes, and Springbank.

I'll be rolling solo, if it makes any difference.

Thanks!

I'd play Heritage if you don't mind paying top dollar.

Call the proshop and ask to play Heritage and Desert nines. Pointe is a complete waste of time.

I haven't been to Inglewood post flood.

Well, it would be an afternoon round, which runs $105 (cart included) if I can get in between 1 and 3pm. Considering Elbow is $94 without cart, and Inglewood is mid 80s, $105 isn't too out of line.

How was Inglewood prior to the flood? Any reason why you haven't been back?

Special runs from noon-3 fwiw. HP is in good shape right now played Des-Her Sunday and Pointe-Des yesterday. Greens were still a hair squishy on pointe but des was better. Rough is healthy and fw's need to be taken down a hair more but its good.

Just looked at the tee sheet, we're jammed till 2:30. There's a group of 20 going out at noon and a group of 12 going out at 1, may be best to stay away.

I like the place. It's just not a course anyone in my group plays regularly, so haven't had the opportunity to get back.

I agree I played it last year in Rileys and the layout is quite solid.

Holy s***.. Two stags or something? I imagine that really slows down everyone after them? I'm currently booked in at 1:36PM, so I guess I'd be right behind the 2nd group...

Not sure, I haven't seen function sheets yet. They shouldn't be an issue we're doing a better job making sure that groups keep up. The issue would be that as of right now we don't have an open tee time till 2:30 so the course is stacked

Right. It'll be a slow day out there regardless of big groups.

Well since my original post, I had a friend want to join me. And all I could find as a twosome was Heritage (Pointe and Heritage) and Elbow Springs. Still gotta decide which one to roll with.

HP scares the crap out of both of us (I'm a 12, he's around a 15), but is almost certainly a "better" course than Elbow. Which is also preeetttyyy booked up.

Pointe is pretty terrible. Maybe KIC can squeeze you out on Desert.

Yea I'm in tomorrow I'll check the sheet I think desert is a back 9 at that time and with how jammed it would be tough to squeeze, I'll definitely check it out though.

Yea for sure. I'm booked as a twosome at 1:36PM, Pointe/Heritage. Last name Palmer.

Just out of curiosity, why so down on Pointe? I've looked at the CGI fly overs on the website, and Google Maps satellite view, and it's maybe a bit gimmicky? Too much target golf?

IDK its weird, most public players hate desert and love pointe heritage, whereas most of our members prefer desert heritage and a handful probably go the whole year without playing pointe. Personally I like desert heritage more but if I'm just going out to play 9 holes I would probably play pointe.

How odd.

I'll report back regardless of which two I end up playing!

So you were right about the course being slammed. I think we finished just shy of 5 hours. Longest round of the year by far for me.

However, what an amazing course. It was mine and my partner's first time there, and we were both really impressed. We will almost certainly play there again, and probably try to bring some others along. I had a strange round. 42-47 (Pointe-Heritage). Doubled #1, and then went 10 straight holes at 4-over. Then mentally fell apart in the middle of Heritage. Triple-double-triple at one stretch. But it was all really silly mistakes. Skulling a chip for no reason. Clubbing wrong. Etc.

ANYWAY. Thanks for the recommendation. Enjoyed it immensely!

Froze myself silly at Wolf's Creek. Got three holes in before it rained hard. All 18 in 3 hours with an hour of drinking coffee in the middle of the rounds. Very tempted to give a PXG club a shot but my Visa vibrated me the wrong way to tell me not to.

I've played wolf creek a dozen times and it has never not rained on me.
