Do you see any Wilson Staff in bags where you play?

Well I talked myself into getting rid of my AP1 718 and traded them in for the purchase of the D300s. I will be the only player in my group with Wilson since the days of the fat shafts. I’m keeping the 53 wedge from the AP1 set . That is all.

I've seen a few at the club, but some of these guys playing during the week are old enough to have bought them back in the 90s. :)

Just kidding. I've seen a couple sets here and there. But they are rare.

Primary bag:
Titleist 913 D3 8.5
Titleist 915Fd 13.5
Titleist 913h 17
Mizuno MP-18 4-PW

Bettinardi mid-shank putter

Backup bag:
Ping G400 9
Ping G30 fw 13
Ping G30 hybrid 19
Ping iBlade 4-PW power spec
Macgregor VIP wedges 51, 56, and 60
Bettinardi mid-shank putter

There's a couple of sets floating around my way. One of my regular partners owns a few sets of wilson irons actually. Its a shame they have such little presence here (aus) cause their new products (v6 irons, fg100's) look great and I'd love to try them but i literally can't find them at any shop near me

I haven’t seen anyone use Wilson for years. It’s a real shame, as when I took up golf in the late 80s, they were the bats to have. In fact my first ever irons were a set of 2nd hand Wilson Staff Fluid Feel Tour Blades. They were awesome.

I've played t've played the V4 and while the sole wasn't for me, they were great sticks. The FG Tour ball is the best ball out imho. Their hybrids are sick too. If you're into social media, they're a good follow on Instagram. It's sad to see a company building quality equipment being downgraded due to marketing and perception, but I think they are slowly turning that around. If you see some, hit them. You won't be disappointed.

Here in southeast texas never see them, but I don’t really look either. Last summer a guy about my age commented on mine. Then last saturday an older man had some nice comments. Occasionally I will glance over at other people’s clubs as I’m walking in the lot but I can’t remember the last time I saw anything of interest. A lot of new golfers have no taste for the aesthetic appeal of classic clubs. Most of what you see in the stores is just ugly.

Well I made the leap and bought a set of D300s . I will only need to look at my bag to see a Wilson staff bag.

When I go into a major golf retailer...TM and Cally dominate the racks, then Ping. I'm pretty sure they offer an excessive amount of models to visually crowd-out the smaller competitors.

Very true here in the Midwest as well.

I play F5 irons, really like them. A range near my house reps Wilson, so I see them often.

I've been looking at Wilson irons ever since they came out with the FG Tour M3. I really like that Wilson offers forgiving traditional loft iron options.

Odd how Wilson is so highly regarded in sports like tennis where so many elite players use their equipment. But in golf, although widely recognized as quality gear, so few play their clubs.

The biggest contributor to the decline of the brand has been attributed to the cheap box sets in mass merchants, but that didn't hurt tennis where you still see $20 Wilson racquets at WalMart.

Good point. Tennis and golf equipment are similar in that they are both niche markets, and there are comparable numbers of manufacturers in each sport. Yet in tennis Wilson is a leader but not so in golf even though their equipment is top notch. And it's not like they heavily market their tennis stuff. I have been watching the US Open all week and haven't seen a Wilson commercial. Although in tennis a large part of brand recognition is watching the pros - it is very easy to see what kind of racquet each player uses.

BTW, in golf I use W/S Tour Blades, and in tennis my favorite racquet is my Wilson ProStaff Mid 85. Just like my irons, it is a classic throwback, small, thin beam, small sweet spot, but great control and feels like buttah.

I used to play with Wilson pro staff 6.1 classic back in the day.

At my club in Far West Tx one gentleman plays with d-fy iron/hybrids and another plays with Fg tour V4’s. I play with the V1(og) Fg tours and they replaced Pi7s. I’m up in Washington State and I played with a fellow who plays pi5’s.

I see why Harrington stayed with those for so long. They play better than the pi7s.

Loads of wilson staff in my area of greater Manchester, the D range is very popular especially the di7 and 11s. For the price they were and quality you cant beat wilson staff at all. In fact quite a lot of pro shops are selling off the recent D range ready for Xmas. Full set of quality wilson staff for less than £200 which performs the same as ping, mizuno, taylormade etc it's a no brainer, especially on a budget. Always like wilson staff from the classic blades to now, maybe it growing up with early faldo to langer using the brand... They just ooze class
