Fabb (or whoever) -- did we ever determine if full handi's in Wolf was problematic?

 

There was the scenario where Domes was only guy stroking and his ball is going right down the middle and you know it's bogey at worse and that's just the kind of advantage no one else ever has.

 

On the other hand, that day it was basically only domes getting strokes against you, me and Q. Tomorrow, he'll at least have one other guy getting strokes on all of his holes (except 1) so he can't just go solo as brazenly.

Would the idea of playing 60% (or whatever) of caps be that the holes only one person is getting a stroke on would be theoretically harder to par?

 

Or just that the chances of someone being airwolf on a hole where they are the only one stroking would be lessened?

One of the ideas is that fourballs are 90% of handicap.

 

In a sense. wolf is almost like a "fourball". At worst you're playing a fourball on every hole (you have a partner). But occasionally you get to decide if you want to go solo based on the quality of your drive.

 

Drive is probably (this is for a whole other day) the most important shot on any hole. If a guy getting a stroke gets the opportunity to call it in the air, he's basically taking all the risk out of the hole. And, we make that 4X. I mean, ball in the air still has randomness to it, but not when you pump one down the middle. You're not necessarily winning the hole, but you've removed SO MUCH risk of losing the hole.

 

Think about how much different it would be if you had to call lone wolf before you teed off. That would take balls if that was 4X.

 

Now, one way we "narrow that gap" is to add in junk. Maybe that's enough. Maybe not.

 

But, that's my thoughts on it.

Maybe blind wolf should be 4X, and lone airwolf 3X, and regular lone wolf 2x.

Think about how much different it would be if you had to call lone wolf before you teed off. That would take balls if that was 4X.

 

 

 

Should we try that tomorrow? Make it 5x? Then 3x if you go alone while it's in the air? 2x if alone after everyone hits?

 

Or just keep it at 4x and make it that you have to declare before you hit.
