For Q2 (which I should have wrapped up, but you never know), both guys behind me have DJ, so that's pretty big.

In the overall, the top 6 all have DJ or RM. A big swing between those two players this week could have serious ramifications.

I'm on the Rory train this week. Basically the same reasons as Fabb. City and 2More had already used him so it is a chance to gain some ground. And Rory tends to win in bunches. I'm pumped to watch all weekend. Somehow Rory is not one of the featured groups today though.

Has anyone checked out the new shot tracker on the Masters website? You can watch a replay of every shot everyone in the field has hit.

I think I get something like 22 days a year of PTO (it's some formula of time with the company and your position/title). Can accrue up to 20 days, but only carry over 15 (meaning at the end of the FY they drop you to 15). I somehow don't use much, since I can't remember the last time I was under 12 (getting the week between XMas and NY helps a lot). 2 or 3 times a year I find myself up against accrual/carryover limit, so I "have" to take a random weekday golf day. We also get something approaching a sick day a month. I can't remember the last time I used one, given that I can work remotely, so when I need to use a sick day (either for myself or family) I just work from the home office. We stop accruing sick days at 90 (and don't get paid out), so I'm sitting on 3 months of paid medical leave if I were ever to need it.

 

My wife's company went to unlimited PTO a couple years ago. My understanding is the primary purpose is to effectively prevent people from accumulating any PTO that the company would need to pay out when you separate.

Getting psyched for it. im' actually at home today because wife left town and dog has the RUNS. Took him to the vet yesterday and we got some pills.

He has gone from "hot chocolate" to "chocolate pudding" so that bodes well. He went from getting up 3 times a night to 0 times last night. I was actually worried about playing golf this weekend because he hasn't been able to go more than 2 or 3 hours without an emergency walk.

I originally picked Rose then went back and picked DJ. After seeing all the other picks, I wish I hadn't switched.

The majors are always going to be an area where there's a lot of overlap though. You can't really plan on making up ground in those weeks. I could take a flyer and hope to pick a winner outside of the top 5, but that could also backfire and have me falling behind.

It works for me on the iPad using the masters app. The masters on the range is right now and featured groups stream has now started. Garcia, finau, and stenson.

For you guys on contracts, do you get paid hourly? Can you work up to 40 a week? Can you work 50 and make more? Or you can work 26 as long as at some date you have the target number billed (you'd have to work more than whatever the average is one week to make it up)?

@baddomes I work for a company that has a contract with the government to provide technical people. I'm not sure about working less than 40, but I probably could. I can't work more than 40 without specific permission from the feds, I think.

Everyone in my corner of the world is salaried. From a contract standpoint, you can bill 1860 hours per contract year - out of 2,000 something available work hours (workdays in a year x 8).

 

But from a tracking standpoint, its managed by month. So if you work extra hours in the first half of the month you can take "free" time off at the end of the month. This is great during golf season as its pretty easy to work 8 extra hours. But at the end of the month, (workdays x 8) is the max hours you can bill.

 

The 1860 number may vary but I dont think the general contract structure is that unusual in my corner of DoD.

the masters "track" is awesome. basically lets you watch any(?) shot you want to click on.

 

@baddomes I can work extra hours in a week and bill them. I get told what my salary is every year, but my paychecks show 40 hours @ $X. i've never taken much advantage of worknig extra per week. I have at times been busy and had to work more than 40. i just shoot an email off. There are guys who I know are billing 50+ every week and I don't believe they really need to. If I billed less than 40, I'd probably more likely get a question about it. if I ever want to dial it back, I'll have to have a conversation. My billing is related to contract is related to company is related to client up the chain.
