Can you see those bunkers off the tee on 9 - I bet that is a cool looking tee shot the way the green is angled.

(Googles 'Mountain Branch Golf')

84 miles...GD.

I've never been up to Mountain Branch, but I've always heard good things about it.

My "golf brain" just extends south and west of the city. Like the only things I think about Northeast of the city are Fox Hollow and Bulle Rock and I'm not a huge fan of either.

If I am traveling North, I'm always thinking about Greystone.

Yeah, you can see them.

That's just a hoopty rotated in 90 degree increments MS Paint screen cap. That's not exactly the angle you come into the green at. It's really like if you could rotate that image maybe another 30'ish degrees clockwise.

Nice. Let's get some field reports from there, guys. lots of stuff? Prices in line with website (on trade-ins AND purchases)? Is my Bobby Grace there?

Please, I'm begging you, please report back that the store is a dump and has nothing worth going to look at.

Thanks.

I really want a Fort11 IG story. Does a few product reviews, takes some practice cuts, has a few shiggles with the salesman.

Not from Columbia. DaGoose was up at the one near Newark, or something, and put something about it on IG.

Y'all are probably sick of me talking about Junior, but, holy carp he's getting good. We played the front 9 of Needwood yesterday, and he shot a 1 over 37. And he left some shots out there. 3 putted twice.

He hit the par 5 #4 in 2 with a monstrous 3 wood from over 240 to about 12 feet. But left the eagle putt a foot short.

Oh, and in Bad Idea News, we picked up a set of blades on eBay. MP18s. They were a pretty good bargain, so it's no big deal to sell if they don't work out. But so far he's getting them fine. They are a club shorter though.

Blades are always a good idea. I still have my Nike blades in my closet, which I may break out again now that my ball striking is tour level.

Nice. Jake’s handicap will need a major revision if he shot +1 on just 9 holes. That’s awesome for him. Do we have a handicap committee to oversee such things or so we only go by the Grint?

we have a handicap chair. Members are required to post all rounds. As a matter of fact, Young Chen doesn't seem to be in the Hive at the Grint.

I don't know what's up with that.

That’s good to know about the handicap chair. Thanks for clarifying.

Why is it a story that the guy who won $1.2M on Tiger has a criminal history? He's not running for president.

Also, does that surprise anyone? That a guy who would bet $85,000 on a golf tournament probably isn't a mild-mannered librarian who volunteers at the PTA on his days off?

The whole story still stinks to me. He said he was $25k in debt on Christmas Day but then he decided to cash out $85k in Amazon stock he had to make the bet. Wut? If you have an online account with $85k in stock then you are not "25k in debt". Either that or you're a complete bleeping deadbeat whos ignoring your bills when you clearly have a liquid asset to pay them off.

BTW if there are any guys so inclined as to be interest in sports gambling, Showtime did a great four part documentary called Action. Watched the first couple of episodes last night, its way better than I thought it was going to be - my wife was actually interested enough that we watched a second episode. Definitely doesnt glorify sports gambling at all but there's a pretty good mix of characters in it.

From one artcle. . ."Adducci said he is now considering using the money for other bets."

Goodbye, money.

I've heard people with that sentiment about "being in debt" before and not counting stocks/retirement/whatever. If you owe $300,000 on your house and you have $500,000 in an IRA, you're not in debt.

it still seems fishy. I'd like a timeline of it. . .like when did he sell the stock and how fast was he able to convert that to cash? I can't just sell $85,000 in stock on Wednesday and get in a bet.

The books don't like losing the cash, but they're out there touting the cinderella story, posing with the check. They're going to get the next 20 guys who try to make the same kind of bet.

Or the next 100. Back in the day the Stardust - and maybe Binions - were the two sportsbooks like this. When the bigger corporate books would not take big bets, they would welcome it. Because for every one whale bet they payout, they are winning at least the next four.

William Hill actually runs the sportsbook at Charlestown and I've heard they have no problem approving huge bets for guys off the street.

> Also according to court records, Adducci has pleaded guilty to charges 12 times — including non-criminal disorderly conduct — since 2006. He served 30 days in jail for his second OWI arrest in January 2015. He also served one day each over bail jumping and disorderly conduct pleas in separate cases in 2014.

> “This has nothing to do with (winning the bet),” Adducci said when USA TODAY Sports asked about his arrests. “Check out the years of what you were talking about. OK.”

> When USA TODAY Sports said the last arrest was from May 2017, Adducci responded: “And we are in 2019.”
