" The Tad Moore has to be found Its a bit rusted I have not used since the 90's so if I find it I will post."

I think that's the one you heaved into the Potomac river playing with me at Algonquin Park's back 9 !

Don't hold your breath gents on that Tad Moore.

CHI -3. In a head to head battle, I'll take the brown bear over the lion. They're bigger, heavier, smarter, and more stamina.

IND -8. Hard to judge a battle of two animals that might try to nudge each other to death, but this one is being fought in a dome, so the dolphin loses by default.

PIT -3. PIT bounces back from an otherwise horrible win last week, saddles the bronco's and rides off into the sunset.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Tomorrow we all sit down to the table, and the requisite, "This looks delicious!" is stated by all the adults. Then the kid exclaims, "EEEEWWWWW, what is this?" Well, you simpering wimp, that is green bean casserole. The most disrespected dish at most Thanksgiving dinners. And, in my opinion, delicious.

So for the green bean casserole pick for the most disrespected team, I am giving the points and taking the Bears Thursday morning.

Along the same lines of disrespect, Ben Franklin famously wanted the delicious and utilitarian Turkey to be the state bird. Alas, the others felt like he had taken one too many lightning bolts to the hands via the kite and selected the Eagles. No self respecting bird can let the Giants come into their house and cover. The Giants did win in SF, but this team has battery throwing fans on their side, and like the Eagles in this one.

Maybe you buy your gravy, and if you do, you might buy it from Heinz. And more Thanksgiving disrespect, Hines Ward is a nominee for the HOF, but he was rarely respected as a receiver, but wouldn't it be great if he and Ed Reed went in together? Maybe he could re-live that vicious crack back block on the way to the podium. In a, giving respect to all gravies in the world, even those in a jar made with preservatives, I will give the points and take the Steelers in the Mile High City hoping it isn't a trap game.

Have a great Thanksgiving, eat the casserole, and be safe at Wal-Mart on Friday.

Well, reports are now that "more likely" Chase Daniel starting for CHI with Trubisky dealing with a shoulder injury. CHI -3 pick under consideration. TBD.

Alright, I can't trust a Chase Daniel led Bears so I'm going to switch to JAX -3.

Well why not make a play on all 3 games today for my weekly picks.

Let's see if I can summons some clever and witty written words just like our "star writer" Pete from Montana / but originally from P Town.

My first taste of the NFL came in 1969 at age 8. Born and raised in the Motor City this young lad found himself watching the old black and white

RCA television on Sunday afternoons. Back then tvs got only 3 channels ( well 4 , but the UHF channel was hard to tune/lock in so it isn't counted). I

was always excited as ever to see my home team Lions football games on the box with the long silver sticks atop of it (antenna) . I wanted to be Greg Landry the QB. I too thought Lem Barney was the best defender in the league, as well a fantastic punt return specialist. I wore my Lions jersey faithfully each time I watched my team on tv. This was long before the Pontiac Silverdome, so the weather was far too often crappy in Motown. This made for defensive slug fests in the mud of Tiger stadium. The Vikes, Bears, and the Pack were despised by me as they were division rivals. Joe Capp had nothing on Greg Landry, but I did admire the ability of Bart Starr. So today there are over a zillion channels to pick from on the television, and the Lions play in the very comfortable confines of Ford Field. I will take the field goal, but expect my first NFL loved team to get the outright win.

Detroit +3

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

I had a long, witty post typed out, then accidentally deleted it. Ugh! If I find time later...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Pittsburgh -3 (No, I didn’t learn a thing - another dreaded road favorite. I had originally picked Jacksonville here, lol. Pitt should be more dependable. FLW)

Panthers -3.5

GB vs Minn: Over 47.5

Seems like a lot of games look good this week - both spread and O/U - which must be a trap! It can’t be that easy! We’ll see.

Enjoy the football, enjoy the turkey (smoked preferably), and, most of all, enjoy your family and friends!

I have to type and run. Lots to do and not enough awake brain cells to contemplate the easiest and most efficient ways to get it all done. Drinking yesterdays coffee is a good start, nice and bitter and wakes you up even more.

I have no idea who I like this week I just saw the "Coltskins" are getting 7 plus the hook. Really do they think Colt is a big downgrade from Alex Smith? The last time Colt played Dallas he actually won. But aha! The problem is now he is a starter, and the Cowboys much-improved defense has game film on him. Everyone is comparing him to the Case Keenum, Nick Foles , episodes we had last year with both backups taking their respective teams to the playoffs. I hope this will be a resurrection of the QB controversies past in DC sports lore. But in order for that to happen, We have to put the clamps on Zeke Elliott as a runner and receiver and smack down Amari Cooper.

This could be one of those 17-13 types of games. If Colt can pass well enough to open up some running lanes for All Day Every Day Peterson, we might have a chance. Our defense needs to create at least one crucial sack or turnover, and we need a couple of big third-down conversions to sustain drives. And let's hope Colt is better at running the two-minute drills than Alex Smith and Jay Gruden. Redskins are 1-7 in their last 8 appearances at Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

I would love to see an upset! HTTR! Taking Cowboys on the money line. But give me the Redskins +7.5

For my second play ( pick for week 12) I'll too take the Redskins +7 1/2

After Detroit my family moved to the great city on the Mississippi River in 1976. This city is know today by it's locals as "The Lou".

I was there for 8th grade through high school. I truly did enjoy my rebel teen years in St. Louis.

It was there that I discovered the great game of golf. But in my years residing in the 'Lou" I faded from Detroit Honolulu Blue (yes that is the official color stated by the franchise) to crimson RED. I became a Cardinals fan. Terry Metcalf was my favorite NFL Cardinal, and he ws so thrilling to watch. I attended many a game at the old Bush Memorial Stadium

abc800d8ef3eccfd769b3d46e5220f7f.jpg

............but then the old man took a job in the Nation's capital. It was off to Northern Virginia for the originally from the Motor City family of four.

Goodbye Budweiser town and hello political D.C.

I became a Redskin fan soon after moving into Fairfax County. I lived through the Joe Gibbs dynasty. I attended so many fabulous games at RFK stadium on the banks of the beautiful Anacostia River. I too met a friend for life in Virginia. That friend was no other than KB, but ya'll know him as doctoro. We lived the Redskins he and I. Parties, attending games, Three Super Bowl celebrations in Georgetown, drank with many of the stars on the team. Went to Redskins Park to see them practice, and too went to Dulles Airport to welcome home the teams plane when they would come home with a huge "W" in a road game. Hell I even played golf on Monday's numerous times with Ernest Byner, Charles Mann, Rickie Sanders, and mostly with my good friend Wilbur Marshall.

John Riggins, Gary Clark, Darryl Green, Art Monk, Daryl Grant, Dexter Manly, and Monte Coleman were some of my favorite Skins, but I could go on all day. The Redskins owned the 1980's in the NFL. It was a great time to be a NFL fan in D.C. indeed! Today I still support the Burgundy and Gold, but times were better when Jack Kent Cook owned the team, and that guru football mind Joe Gibbs was head coach.

In an NFC East rivalry game I'll be happy to take the Redskins plus a TD and the Hook! So that is pick number 2. Redskins +7 1/2

HTTR

I think I had better not make my third pick in tonight's late game. See I am looking 0-2 right now. I will wait until Sunday.

I'm the 1-2 a week kid. So I will watch this Amari Cooper coming out party against my Redskins and sigh. How about another Deep Eddy Lemon rocks please host. I too will do another slice of pecan pie.

My prediction is the Saints roll tonight in the home DOME!

Well college football rivalry weekend is always great.

But on the side of pro football............

My Lions sucked.....what is new?

My Redskins got humiliated. UGH

and now Ohio State kills the U of M.

At least Phil beat Tiger for me. Seemed like neither one of them wanted it that bad.

Thanksgiving day I went 0-2

My last pick will be

Green Bay + 3 1/2 because why? Because Aaron Rogers is Joe Cool.

Well, it was a Turkey of a Day in Big D. I liked the Cowboys on the money line, but I thought the Skins would cover with the hook. They would have but Dustin Hopkins the kicker for the Skins missed an extra point with his turkey leg. Amari Cooper looked like he was playing against a secondary with concrete cleats. He took them all hostage and the ransom was a Thanksgiving Day bottle of Louis XIII, and a Box of Cohibas. Our cornerbacks should have forfeited their game checks.

The referees in Big D are of the mindset of we can make bad calls which are fine because we are in Jerry World. The worst officiated game I have seen in a long time. That said the Offensive and Defensive lines of the Redskins were gassed in the second half and that was basically game set and match.

The NFL better get a handle on the lax officiating on the field by some shoddy referees. I can foresee an exodus in fandom from the NFL, and the betting industry will start looking elsewhere to funnel their funds. If you start losing money because of crappy officiating the revolution will happen sooner rather than later. I used to be a big fan like in the previous post made from my good friend Lawrence aka (Touch). Those days of patrolling the lower bowl seats in RFK Stadium in downtown DC were the best days. Bloody Marys at the Hawk and Dove, and a bucket of balls into the Potomac River during the tailgate! Halftime spent at the outdoor bar in RFK, all of the hospitality people was always seen at that one bar LoL. I still remember Larry snagging the game gloves Gary Clark the Redskins WR, tossed to the fans as they exited the field into the tunnel.

Those were some great days to be a Redskins fan.

As you get older and hear of holdouts, salary cap casualties, I doubt LeVeon Bell would have had to hold out on the 1980s teams. Kirk Cousins might still be in Burgundy and Gold. Defenses would still have continuity. Referees were not part of the show, they kept things moving along.

Times have changed. I love football but I am souring on the NFL and franchises in general. I still watch the games but not an ardent fan like I used to be. This blog has actually given me more interest in the action, which had been waning.

My fantasy league is not as prominent as it once was, everyone has a cell phone and instant news alerts. So my edge there is not like it once was when I won my league 3-4 years running. I must be getting old and cynical...LoL Not quite yet to that point, but the foreshadowing of impending doom is not as far fetched as some might have believed when the TV ratings were through the roof. Thanks to high scoring offenses the NFL has recovered from last year but is that a lasting strategy? Because of the new rules, the umpiring of these games has suffered. Baseball went through a boom with the juiced balls, and then the steroid issues knocked it back down.

Now let's get down to it. "Officer Bar Harbor Brady" are you coming to work today? Me thinks he will, Gronk shows up, Gordon, Edelman, maybe even Sony the gimp comes along. Jets are terrible, maybe the worst team in the league right now. Even though it's a divisional game, at Met Life, give me the Pats -9.5

I am a huge Andrew Luck fan. I have him on my fantasy team, the line in the Indy/ Miami game has gone from 8 to 9 and I think Indy wins at home but I feel a little contrarian about the line. Tannehill comes back and I like their coach. Miami is not great but Amendola and Parker with Stills and Drake catching balls should be enough to keep it somewhat close. I will lean Indy for the win but take Indy/Miami and the OVER 51

I hope everyone had a Great Thanksgiving weekend!

Late in the game in Minny and I am headed for a 0-3 week in picks.

As many of you know I am a fan of Kirk Cousins. It was great to see him finally put on a decent showing in prime time.

I'm not leaving the basement anytime soon.
