Orlando Trip in Jan.

Going to Orlando in Jan. for the PGA Show. 4-8 of us go down the weekend before for a mini golf trip. This year the package we are looking at is:

Hawks Landing day or arrival

36 at Championsgate (International just redid all their greens)

36 at Grand Cypress

18 at Ritz

We have never played Championsgate or Hawks Landing. Are they really good? We can sub out one or both with Waldorf. Tranquillo is not available.

Waldorf is garbage. Every hole looks the same. Great condition and awesome service. Boring golf course.

Agreed on Waldorf, conditions are top notch but it is such a boring design, you just feel like you are playing the same hole over and over again.

Not a fan of Hawks Landing. Front nine is a joke. Back nine is respectable.

I'd stay away from ChampionsGate. Instead, try to get on ChampionsGate CC (not the resort) which is adjascent to the resort. Far, far better course.

I like the New Course at Grand Cypress. I don't mind the N/S/E courses at Grand Cypress other than their ridiculous green contours.

Ritz is really good.

I actually like Waldorf...just the price is pretty steep. I don't know what people are talking about when it comes to 'playing the same hole over and over again.' Is it incredibly exciting? No. But, it's a rock solid golf design. I will say the thing I least like about it is that most of the difficulty of the course comes with being able to hit the ball long.

If you're looking for something close in the area, I'd take out Hawks Landing and ChampionsGate and look at:

ChampionsGate CC

Waldorf

Celebration

Eagle Creek

Falcon's Fire

If you want something better, you'll have to travel a bit more like Mission Inn, RedTail or Juliette Falls.

I would stay away from the international course at champions gate ; but I would highly recommend the national course. The green have been redone on international, but the rest of that course isnt in good shape at all.

I’ve played Palmer and Watson at Reunion. Very enjoyable. Your pro will prob have to call it in for you, tho.

I forgot about Reunion. Yes, those are very good courses. The Watson course is superb.

I'm a fan of Waldorf. I actually like it better than Ritz. My group has played them both for the past 5 years on our trip. Booked through tee times usa the rate is cheap as part of our package so I'm not turned off by the price. Our group loves the layout. As mentioned, the course is always in excellent shape and the service is great. We've been caught behind some huge outings at the Ritz that have beat the course up pretty good; but we do like that layout too. I'd agree on Southern Dunes and Championsgate Country Club!
