I am in search for new irons this year and am thinking about trying the TW-X and the XP-1. Am a 13.6 handicap and could use forgiveness in the irons. The Honma website states: "T//World 747 X irons deliver great feel and game improving performance from a modern forged construction in a beautiful muscle back design." For anyone that has tried these irons are they closer to game improvement or a players iron? Or do they truly sit in between the two categories? Also, to those that have tried out the XP-1 and have put them in play, how would you rate those.

i use a 737 445 driver and tw-w 56 degree wedge. Both were picked up from ebay for cheap! I searched for a while to find my driver shaft profile, low launch, low spin, but its a great setup and the proprietary shafts are very good assuming you have the right fit.

Honma 737-445cc 9.5 driver Honma Vizard 70g

Adams Pro Mini 23 Aldila Tour green

Thanks for sharing.  I am wondering about the Honma TW-X hollow forged irons.  Do you have any feedback on these irons?  Feel, forgiveness, distance and looks?

why dont you check page 3 of this thread?  When I tried 5 iron to replace hybrid, I loved the look, feel and launch but it went bit too long to fit in my set.  They are not cheap in ebay.  IMO, they must be popular.

I think I'm right in saying the TW-X is a full set version of the TW-U Forged driving iron from a couple of years ago. I tried the #4 in the TW-U Forged for a bit, and have also tried the #3. I regret selling the #4, and am actually looking to buy a second hand one. They're good irons, not bulky, high toe (which I like), and feel good for a hollow club. That said, I have no idea how the shorter irons will perform.

I've hit this in the local shop, and the blade version, and I have to say that I am really impressed with them. The blade looks beautiful at address, and the cavity-back feels good and gives me some confidence. There was a secondhand 4i on sale that I debated buying, but it was pretty expensive (made more sense to buy a new one with a shaft of my choosing). I think a combo of the blades and cavities would be a fantastic set.

I see you got new set.  How are TW-Xs working out for you?

Thanks, I got a chance to play them yesterday.  Certainly more forgiving than my Bridgestone J33 CBs.  They have a soft forged feel and I am happy about that.  I was worried about the size of the sole but a beveled leading edge helps with clean contact.  I really like their compact muscle back look, shafts are NS Pro Modus 105.  They are about 1/2 a club longer than my previous set.  I like them so far, hope to give a more detailed review after a few more rounds.

I pulled out stock TW737 70g shaft and will try on 747 driver as stock 60g shaft feels little bit whippy.  I do hope that I get lower and straighter trajectory.

Experimented with a bunch of drivers including the Honma TW 747s.  I am currently very happy with my TW 747 455 driver, solid feel/sound and this thing is very accurate with a good amount of roll.  Stock Vizard 747 60g shaft.  The 460 sounded hollow to me.  I did not expect the 455 to be so accurate and forgiving so I was pleasantly surprised, great traditional pearish shape too which I really like.

As for the TX-X irons, they were solid but I could not get along with the thick sole so I went back to my old Bridgestone J33 CBs for awhile then I found a great deal on some slightly used 2009 TourStage X-Blade 701 CBs which are a lot like my J33s.

The 737 driver is 455 but I find 747 460 is so much forgiving fairway finder for me.

Have you tried any TW V series irons?  Those may fit you well.  I have a set of 747V.

Thanks.  Yeah I tried the 737V and 747V Honma irons and both were very solid and nice, I also love their simple chrome finish.  The TourStage X-Blade 701s actually look so much alike the 747vs in terms of design, see the back of the cavity (forged, thin topline, compact blade, minimal offset, thin sole).  See photos below.  I am also attaching a photo of the TW 747 455 driver (typo earlier when I said 737 455 driver, meant 747), thanks.

Dang X-Blades are like 747V.  From top, I could be fooled.   what shaft do you have on X-Blades?
