GD Tour AD DI vs. Tour AD IZ

Bumping an old thread but thinking of going ad-di in TSR3 driver. Like it in my fairway. While I  like the ad iz in my Tsi2 driver, cuts are difficult but that may just be the head (or user error). Thoughts?

From my own personal experience with the DI and the IZ, the DI seemed much easier to load, or at least the feeling of it with a more pronounced kick. The IZ is a very linear feeling shaft that always seems to "hang with you" with less sensation of a kick.

Shot shapes with these shafts were quite different for me as well, the DI was easier to hit a fade, while the IZ I was hitting a draw. FYI my natural shot shape is a small draw.

Picked up the IZ 6x for my SIM 2 Max and I'm not quite sold on it. I would rather be in an AD DI 6x. It definitely feels more stable and one-piece than the DI. I just like the way the DI loads and unloads for my swing.

I am in your same boat.  My swing best fits a blue board (Diamana) profile or the DI profile.  Everytime I get a wild hair I will put the IZ in and see how it goes and it just doesn't quite suit me 100%.

Going to stack the AD DI, IZ, and UB against each other when the TSR3 arrives and see which one wins out.

Thats a fun test. I just did the TP/IZ/UB in a weeklong test.

Try the UB. I am LOVING it. I feel that it is almost in between an IZ and DI. It is nice and stable but keeps a similar profile. I tried the Ventus TR Red and Blue and did not get a long with them at all. Swing was all over the place as was impact. With the UB, it has been incredibly consistent with ball flight and impact.

Same here!  Nothing in the Fuji line really suits me.  The UB seems like a winner for you.  You are wearing out the center of the face!  Nice.

The UB has been a great shaft for me in a few different heads. I generally play a fade, but with the UB it plays straight to a slight draw. I could tell after a some range time and playing a few rounds this was a great shaft for me.

I have the UB 7x in my Epic Speed 3 wood as of the past 2 months. Also, the same shaft in my Apex UW 21* the last 3 months. Based on these 2 clubs, it will kick my DI 7x out of the 17* UW in the future. The DI can have a bit too much of the kick feeling and can fade off a bit much for me. The DI is great, but I just prefer the feel and the shot shape of the UB. I am tempted to try it in my driver as well, but I get along with IZ as of now. But, my experience has been similar to the comments list above since the topic was revisited.

I hope someone sees this and responds as I was shocked today at what I experienced. I walked into an Edwin Watts, was just looking around,  and they had a TSR 3 driver with a GD AD IZ 6X shaft in the used rack. It caught my attention and I had to hit it. I could not believe how nice it felt (almost soft). My SS was just under 100 today. Regardless, I would never select a X (not that fast), but this shaft felt great to me --making me wonder if the DI6 in stiff (which I had literally just ordered in a 4W) was a mistake? Are the DIs in stiff softer than the IZ X? Bottomline, the IZ X felt softer than my current Kai Li 60S and I am concerned the AD DI 6S investment I just made in a 4W (which I planned to replicate in my driver) is wrong? I will not have the opportunity to try the DI, otherwise I wouldn't be asking.... I know the bend profile is based on the Blue Board (epic), so I felt comfortable buying without trying. Any thoughts are appreciated.

so far for me comparing DI to IZ, the DI feels smoother and i got more consistent results. But need more testing

The conventional wisdom here at WRX since the AD DI came out was that the DI 6 plays softer to flex than the DI 7 or heavier.  The DI 6 needs to be tipped a bit to make it feel more stable.

I understand the 7s would be more stable/stiff, but is the 6 disproportionately soft?  I just know what the X felt like (IZ 6X), my numbers etc., and it didn't make sense. I can steal this driver... but I'm thinking I'm nuts to pull the trigger.

... I was pretty excited to hit them but had the same experience with the Ventus Blue and Red. Like several others the BlueBoard profile has worked very well for me. But I wish people would describe their swings when commenting on shafts. Swing speed can be irrelevant without knowing how you swing. I have a very smooth swing and transition and at 70yrs old I was around 96 consistently this past summer for reference. The S was a little too strong for me and the R a little too soft but thankfully my 2nd fitter had the IZ in SR flex and it was dammed near perfect.

... So far very happy with it and I like it better than the MT it replaced, but I saw a DI in black on Ebay and then found this thread. A fast swinging, strong hitters opinion would be irreverent to me for obvious reasons. So I am very interested in how smooth swingers compare the IZ/DI/MT if they have hit them all, or just the IZ vs DI. LOL and now the UB seems to be in the picture.

The 6S and 7S are noticeably different.  The 6S feels a little "looser" than the 7S.  The 6S needs to be tipped half an inch or so to tighten it up - it still retains that great smooth feeling.
