Paid by Venmo and not received item. Any recourse?

I find there seems to be an awful lot of low post count members posting in the For Sale section. I doubt I'll even be interested in a purchase here until they find a way to get the feedback returned. Lots of the other site issues seem to be getting cleared up though.

Sorry to hear about these Venmo stories. We really need BST feedback in order to avoid these repeat offenders. I have had some transactions where the buyer "gifted" the paypal payment to me without even realizing. Transaction / shipment went just fine, but had to warn the person to be aware and no longer "gift" payment. I feel like it should be a requirement to view posts like these before you can even view the BST listings.

I’ve had that happen too, buyer’s offering to gift. I tell them it’s their option but that they lose any protection and it’s not a good idea, even though I know I’m not going to scam them.

 

It’s hard to believe that with everything out there people still don’t realize the ramifications, but it’s true.

BST Feedback will be coming back, they are currently working on it per the daily updates given. Hopefully we see it soon.

I’m pretty sure you can change that in preferences or something. When I first got the app it defaulted to f&f but now I have it set for goods and services.

I’d agree the feedback is needed. But the fact remains if people use PayPal (goods and services) they’re protected. And I know that’s been beaten to death but people still don’t do it and are getting burned more than I’d think would happen. So much so the mods pinned the Just Say No at the top.

Maybe so. It’s been a while since I’ve messed with or changed any settings. I just know I caught it was on f&f when I first used it. I thought I changed a setting but I could be wrong.

If you can change it on the mobile I never figured out how (really not surprising since I’m barely able to use the damn thing as a phone), I accidentally gifted the one time I paid with the phone. I just wait til I’m home now. I tell the sellers what my timeline is, and if it doesn’t work for them I completely understand. Have to sell to the first money.

 

Although when we had feedback, you could decide to offer a little leeway to a well established and represented member.
