Help Identify - Macgregor Irons

Hi all, I recently bought a set of MacGregor MCX Oversize Irons, 3 to 9 iron plus SW (no PW). I can't find any information about them. I'm keen to know the year and lofts.

 

Heads are stainless steel. They have green triangle rubber decals in the cavity which have been glued on. It says oversize but they are small compared to modern iron heads.

 

Steel shafts have stickers saying "MacGregor, Multi-Flex, Regular".

 

Original rubber grips are in good condition.

 

The SW looks like a 56* or 57* when compared with a 58*.

No disrespect but Those are some terrible looking MacGregors.  Looks like they are a store line model well after macgregor’s heyday.  Hope you didn’t invest much into these.

 today’s arrival.  Bought a mixed bag of things I wasn’t sure what was going to arrive. These heads are mint with barely any use. I understand from a few others that they are from the MacGregor custom ordered program likely from champions club in Texas circa 1980ish.  High quality irons. 2-9iron.

Definitely Custom shop---- Diamond Back like 57 thru 59s The sole grind and faces look like 985s though. Nice set

I missed this back in February sorry late to the party---- I have no idea on these because I have never seen a set of those

Stixman (remember him?) showed a set of Paul Azinger irons of very similar profile many years back. I checked out Worthpoint on google and they are showing a set of Paul Azinger MacGregor with some background info. eg test run of 100 sets released in UK around 1990, Don White had nothing to do with them, neither did Macs Custom Shop.

These have a similar look about them, particularly the script and font. The diamond back is slightly different but could be a different blank from the same source as the Azingers, and similar very small production run.

This is where I would be betting my money

I'll echo @NRJyzr's sentiments here. Glad you stuck around. The transition to the new site (and back again?) wasn't the smoothest of transitions. I am still upset at the loss of the visual records that was on here of old persimmon models.

Yeah rex was like a reference manual--- He knew his stuff too--- I also miss Mr Charley Penna he was a Mac / Penna wealth of info---- I guess a lot of them are getting older too like most of us are

Anyone able to identify these? I found someone reference the RDX1 and RDX2 but can't seem to find anything on the RDX3.

 

They look pretty forgiving.

Beautiful irons! The 3 denotes mens flexible (senior). I believe the Tourney Action line of shafts were a bit less tip stiff than the Propel series that preceded them. I've heard others describe them as just the opposite. But regardless, I would think the 3 would be considered a fairly robust A flex by today's standards.

I wasn't clear but the heads are not loose. They are senior flex and I'm a S/X tweener with irons and X with driver. Still plan to try then out though!
