Golf is a much smaller community than most sports, not really that surprising.

Considering ping didn’t really sign players that weren’t currently or hadn’t played ping in the past other than Finau there is a bit of surprise

Correct, but that doesn’t change the point that this is largely how deals go down in the professional golf community.

Wonder how many more sponsors invites he has. If he top tens a week and gets in the following week because of it does that count towards the amount of starts he is aloud? If there is a number for that.

Top 10 finishes and getting into next available event don’t count towards his exemptions

They don't use money to determine that any more. It goes by FEC points. Needs to earn at least what the 125th place finisher in the FEC standings earns to get his tour card for next season. Similar top what Doc Redman did today.

I believe Viktor (and Wolff, Suh, etc) have 6 sponsor exemptions total to make what they need in $/points for next year. Couple of years ago, Ollie missed out by making a bogey on his hole that sent him to Web.com for the following season. He missed the money amount by the price of happy meal from that bogey.
