I never heard of these shafts but I don't follow KBS very well. I wonder how they play. I wanted to see what shafts he played vs Wolff. Different swings but both powerful so I'm always intrigued. Wolff plays Modus 130x.

I have switched back and forth between KBS and TT for my entire career and honestly can say I prefer the feel of the KBS, but found them to be a little weaker in the tip section.

You sure can. You can get them from all your normal retailers and given they are a less common request, they are generally in stock almost everywhere. Not the cheapest of shafts you can buy, but not a whole lot different than something like a DGX100, for example.

Thankfully they had a free bag check. This photo was taken at the end of the day as we were leaving PB Vic was just finishing up some putting practice and he was nice enough to stop for a photo.

That has changed. Hovlands contract calls for him to play a minimum 11 Ping clubs. Same as Tony Finaus Ping deal.

TM wedges and putter for Viktor. Quite a departure for Ping. They used to require the full bag, including putter. Maybe being so strict was holding them back from signing some top players and they've decided to loosen up a bit.

In the era of lots of guys going with no club deals, I wouldn't doubt that having a structure that allows them to get guys signed to at least the majority of the bag has helped them gain some traction. Especially in a world where guys don't always seem to want to use the brand matching putter. Wedges are a whole different story, but also seem to be more of a personal feel thing out there these days.

The deal I was told includes the putter, but he has a grace period to find a Ping putter he is okay with.

I don't know if it was holding them back or Ping being selective. I saw an interview, I think with Fried Eggs Golf, where John Solheim said they only sign players that have been playing Ping already.

“Usually”...

They have been altering that policy for select golfers when a chance arrives to sign a rare talent.

That’s typically the case, Finau was the first and after a conversation with him in the tour truck at Augusta the solheims were sold on him and had their tour rep go after him

That's pretty neat. Sounds like Viktor kinda approached them and they just hit it off. I like that they are so selective and make sure they person is going to be a good fit for the brand. In the coverage I've seen this year on him, they got a great guy representing their brand.
