David Marr needs some caffeine before his show.

Can listen to Breed for about 7 minutes. Hyperbole can run amuck and the constant Titleist shilling is annoying.

Listened to Haney for 30 seconds, once. That was 29 seconds too long.

Rarely get to listen to the Paulsen's but they seem to be pretty good.

K&MoT is about the best there is. They aren't good alone but together it's a great radio. Very much enjoy them. Just guys you could have beers with after a fun round.

Wish Pat Perez wasn't all about Pat Perez. Sometimes he's informative but most of the time his self-serving babble and "I'll go show em" approach is a good reason to switch the the NFL station.

I’m honestly just not that big a fan of any regular show on that station. I’ll listen to the live coverage if it’s a big tournament and I can’t watch the TV broadcast, but the talk shows have never been good content. If you guys are fans of golf talk that isn’t the same old thing, but still with player access, etc., I’d suggest the NLU podcast or ForeplayPod.

Marr is on at 3 central time now. Nice guy but boring as heck.

It might be. I don't get in my car until about 8 so I only hear Breed and ITR.

The book was financially successful, to be sure. But, it was reviled both inside and outside the golf community, and it pretty well marginalized him as a respected teacher. The radio show allowed him to reinvent himself as a candid outsider lobbing commentary grenades into the golf establishment.

I know Mike Davis was elated to see him go. That's the one reason I wish they would have kept him on.

Can’t stand his radio show. Got bored with his tv show after none of them got better. Enjoyed the heck out of his book.

Pat Perez: if you took away the phrases “it is what it is” and “this and that” I’m not sure he could talk at all. Has potential as a drinking game, though. As it is, too many shows become babel when he starts shouting others down.

ITR and On Tap are good. Couples’s and Crenshaw’s shows can be interesting; I’ve always had a lot of respect for Crenshaw especially. Norman’s show is unlistenable, Stadler’s nearly so. For those turned off by Breed’s shilling for Titleist, give the Callaway fitting show a shot. Heh heh heh.

Actually, the most frustrating thing about the channel is the commercial content. I don’t know how many minutes of each hour are devoted to commercials but it’s a lot, and the shows themselves often devolve into infomercials for Club Champion or whatever. I’m a golf addict so generally I’ll listen to anything about golf, but even I have my limits.

It sucks that there are so many commercials when you pay for the station, but then again do I want to listen to two people talk golf for 2-3 hours straight without a break for the hosts?

Good point, the hosts need breaks. I think I could come up with canned golf content for breaks, but it’s moot since there’s no competing golf radio channel to pay for no ads. Fortunately there are plenty of other channels on my favorites screen for when I get tired of the sales training commercials or Norman’s show comes on.

I don't believe so. He was announced as suspended initially, and then just faded away.

Yeah, that's correct. They were advertising his show for a while during his suspension, but then he just faded away. No comment or discussion.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hank is going to be doing regular podcasts on iHeartRadio. SiriusXM tried to retain him according the linked report, but Hank went elsewhere. I think if Hank would have apologized more profusely immediately, he’d still be there.
