Tourstriker Planemate

Recommended Posts

The above posts are positive but not suggesting they’ve been transformative in ball striking beyond wedge play from what I can see.  Makes me less likely to buy one than more.

I nearly purchased this to sort out my winter swing woes but concluded a pro sendr might be better for me so got that instead.   That was not all that good at first but now I’m about 4 hours of practice in with it my ball striking is really coming back and low scores are coming.   I would say it’s already worth 4 shots a round and with a bit more work could be worth as much as 6-8 shots.  I can now stand with the driver and be confident I can hit one down the middle with a decent strike.

I'll chime in as well, have been using PM for 7 months now and for me the best use has been half and 3/4 wedges.

The PM didn't help me with anything but the wedges. And actually the protocols helped me with that as well. I gave up on it and it's been in my storeroom for over 2 years...along with all of the other training aids I've purchased.

I started using my PlaneMate this week, and I apparently don’t understand how to use it. I did the 30 follow through and tried to do 30 short backswings for simple chips. I ended up doing close to 50, and every - single - shot went off the heel of the club. I’m keeping my arms straight and connected and maintaining tension on the band while rotating through. I *think* what’s happening is that the face of the club is closing but it happens even when I take like, a putter stroke. I don’t get it at all and I have no idea how to correct it since there’s nothing in the video series to help.

I was heely when I started the plane mate. Check to make sure you aren’t EE. This aid is good for rotation but unless you video yourself you can get into some bad spots. Try to feel the hand come just past your lead hip when you swing through and make sure you rotate

You have the band too tight. Move the connector closer to the grip so the tension doesn’t freak you out. As contact improves, move the connector farther to create more challenge. This helped me. Also the band tends to help golfers find a better address measure as your arms need a little structure and most aren’t used to that new feel.

Reduce the tension but also make sure you aren’t getting the arms disconnected from the body. I’ve seen some people post videos and they are pushing the hands away from the body to start instead of turning properly

Getting the trail hip deep is a HUGE key for me. If I don't get depth in my pivot goin back I will EE and shank it.

Thanks fellas. I'm going to take some videos with it next week and see if I can identify the issue. I used it again on yesterday and had some better shots by using the takeaway thought "left hand to right hip", so not bringing the club so far away from me during the takeaway. I also think I'm extending my right wrist too soon but who knows...
