Ping G410 5 wood - playing at 16 degree 3 or 4 wood

Was thinking about getting a Ping Tour 75 3 wood shaft to put into the 5 but then I noticed the specs on the Ping website says there is only 1/2 inch difference. Think I'll stick with the evenflow 5 wood shaft.

This is a great thread that I am glad I stumbled on.... I never thought about a 5 wood dialed down and open (which I need) as 3 wood.

As above in this thread last year I was happily playing my G 5W and 7W the open setting. I just ordered a stock G410 3 wood shaft to try in my newish G410 5w. Also ordered a 4g weight to replace the 7g one already there to offset about half of the SW change (If needed). I figure the 1/2 inch may eek out a few extra yards and separation from my G410 7w distance at my meagre speed.

I traded both G woods for the G410 7w, after a few rounds down south in February with a new G410 5w at my expected -1/16.5° setting. Not a lot of rounds in since with Covid, and even the ranges were closed till just now. But I've been leaving some out low and right on course with the 5w at the -1/16.5° setting, a bit of that with the 7w too. It may be an operator swing issue and compounded by trying shots in wetter conditions. Tried both clubs at the range yesterday (it finally opened!) and standard setting was more comfortable.

In recent years I played the G25 and XR 16 4 woods (very similar in headsize to the G410 5w) and then the G400 SFT all at 43" so I figure it should feel ok in length. But..a question.. am I correct that the longer shaft may may make it slightly more upright, more left tendancy? If so i may be back to the slightly open setting...that's ok. But the longer shaft is only an experiment anyway.

I play my G410 at 16.5* to play as a 4W and love it! much easier to control than a 3W and still get the height I need to stop going into greens.

Tested on a launch monitor and the G410 5 wood outperformed the G410 3 wood with same length shafts. The smaller head of the 5 wood also appeals to me versus the larger head 3 wood.

I am playing my G410 5 wood and -1 degree flat setting with a 3 wood length shaft and my G410 7 wood is set at neutral and has a 5 wood length shaft.

I like the idea of swapping out the longer shaft lengths like tagermo said. I think I'll give this a try as well.

jt@gt, I picked up the 410 9W to fill in after the 7W as it has become my favorite club in the bag. I have the 4H but have a bit of love/hate with it. Played the 9W the first time yesterday and both of the 190 yd shots I used it on were spot on.

I have been playing the G410 4 crossover during the summer months when its warm and I am swinging good, during the winter months when I don't compress the ball as well I put in the G410 4 hybrid.

I’m very similar swap out G crossovers 21 and 24* for 20 and 23* G15 hybrids in wetter conditions

maybe someone here can give me a recommendation.
planing to boy something that fits between my 5wood (srixon 19°) and a driver.
would like to get a ping g425 5wood (17,5°) set at 16°. but then the face will be open that i don't like. the 3wood 14,5° set at 15,5 or 16 might do the trick, but i struggle with the longer shaft.
so? cut the 3wood shaft? look somewhere else? would like to play a club with a square face.
