Club I just don’t get along with

Anyone else have a club type that they just don’t get along with, more than that I mean a particular club rather than all clubs of that type.

 

For me it’s the 3 hybrid. I hit a 4 hybrid really well, like an iron. It goes straight, it goes high, it goes in the direction I aim it. I can lower the trajectory if I need to, I can hit it off the ground or the tee with ease 9 times out of 10.

 

Give me a 3H and I’m absolutely rubbish with it. Have tried G400, 818H1 and now G410. I had a G400 4H and still game an 818 H1 now, both worked well.

 

I think I’ve hit about 30 shots with the G410 on course now, and I can count on one hand those that haven’t been abysmal. And not just slightly bad, really bad, tops, slices, a hook today. I was only practising today, one shot was 220y out, first try about 30y right of the green and short, second shot 50y wide and lost ball, so I put it in the bag and used a 5W straight onto the green.

 

I’m giving up on this slot, already taken it out of the bag. Now need to decide whether I try a 7W or whether I just use that space to put my 64* wedge back in. I’m inclined to do the latter as I think it’ll save me more shots.

Probably a 3w. I’ve got a 4w now much easier for me to hit.

For some reason, i cant get along with titleist AP2s or T-100s. Weird enough, I hit blades like the Mizuno MP20s (which I just ordered) much consistently, easier to hit center and longer than the T-100 and AP2. Not sure why since it should be the opposite, but thats me. Even at address, im a bit scared when looking at the T-100s, but feel uber confident with the MP-20s, although when side to side, they are pretty much the same size heel to toe.

Putters with no alignment aids. i know a lot of people love them but for myself, i never understood it. My brother has one. It is very unsettling standing over the putt lol.

TM woods. As much as I like the look of some of them they can just never beat out my TS woods. Plus I cant hit a 2 or 3 iron to save my life.....

This for me as well.

 

Hitting 3 wood was so far into my psyche I just could not make a good pass at the ball. Practice swings would feel fine, but once I stepped up to the ball all hell would break loose in my swing.

Shallow faced 3 wood from the fairway. I’m sure it due to the swing I put on the ball. Need to find a callaway 3deep or something similar

Anser/Newport style putters. Love the look and feel of them, but for whatever reason I struggle to hole any putts of note with them, missing everything right. Move the shaft to the heel and call it a Del Mar and we're in business.

 

Shame, as I've got an oil can Newport at home I've tried gaming at least once a season since it was new, but every year I get the same result - looks good, but cannot hole a thing.

I can’t hit a hybrid period. 3 or 4 doesn’t matter it’s going left. I suppose it would be a good thing on dogleg holes but that’s it. Switched to a 7 wood and it’s money from anywhere

4i slot has been difficult for me. Tried all sorts, including driving irons and game improvement 4-irons, but I do better with a similar lofted hybrid or even a 9w.

Sort of similar, except I miss left with anser-type putters.

"Hybrid" is definitely a tinny word. "Iron" and obviously "wood" are woody words.

Any hybrid. Period. I’ll smash a 2 iron off the deck with enough spin to hold the green, but you can hand me a hybrid with any loft and be rest assured it’s going OB left 2/5 swings.

Strangest thing. I have a mental block against a 4 iron. I can hit a 2 or 3 just fine, but I can count the solid shots I’ve hit with a 4 on one hand. I’ve recently dropped that club and bent the 3 and 5 to close the gap. Allowed me to add another wedge. Much better without it.

23/24 degree hybrids. As much as I'd like to think that that bit more 'forgiveness' would help, I hook the bejebus out of them. Yet I keep trying and then just go right back to a 4i.

Well, long irons are now foreign to me. I'm not comfortable standing over anything longer than a 5 iron now. Also, PING woods. They work for a ton of people but I haven't had any luck with them since the original Rapture series...
