Dumb question perhaps, but in these tests with the sub-zero is the heavier weight in the rear or in the front?

Not a dumb question at all. I also wonder how the Epic Flash sub-zero compares as have seen some suggestions that ballspeed was higher than Maverick SZ

Great question actually. In this particular test it was set up with 2 of the exact same weights in front and back.

Are the lofts In each of the categories the same?

meaning all 115mph using same and 125mph same in their own tests

All heads are measured for lift and face angle, making sure they are near identical. If you're asking would the 125mph and the 105mph player use the same heads, no. We have heads in 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 true lofts for all driver heads. The player would use the one that most suits them, however, all brand heads are identical specs for that particular player.

What weight? That is not in line with how the head was designed. That makes zero sense to use the same weights. You need to fit the golfer to the optimal weights not just throw in two matching weights.

Honestly, this whole test seems like a TaylorMade advertisement. Not very scientific at all.

This is not a fitting. It's a base test to show the difference in like measured heads. It's meant as a guide to show head variences, not give you every piece of test info so everyone can fit themselves. That's not the objective here. And there can't be ANY more controlled way of setting the clubs up than the same shaft, same length, same grip, same flex, same swingweight, identical lofts, identical face angles, and totally neutral weight configurations. We test these heads in every conceivable weight configuration and report back to the companies that submit them with the results. We are paid to do this, and this data isn't ever going to be published free of charge. The object of this test isn't to optimize the product for best results. It is to compare them all without variable in their most neutral configuration. We use the detailed data for fitting customers. If you don't like the thread, great, back out, but I didn't spend 9 hours testing heads on my and 4 of my co-workers off time for free to hear ungrateful commentary because you can't have every piece of data you want.

 

And as far as Taylormade, we run a full retail store and build center and sell every type of OEM head. It doesn't benefit us in any way to promote one head over another. The results are the results. To me, it just proves every company is making great product these days, but if you need ultra low spin, one head clearly wins. If you don't, then you have many great options. Just because something spins less than everything else doesn't mean it's a better product. Each suits a different type of player.

I for one am grateful for the info that your giving us. I look forward to the info you give us regarding the newest heads every year. There are just some people you can’t make happy. Your company does this at a much more detailed level than some people understand but they want to tell you that their way would be better. LOL. Just ignore them. I would say the vast majority of us truly appreciate the time and energy you spend to provide this info for us junkies.

How would you say these heads performed as far as dispersion? Especially on mishits

None of these products is what I'd call unforgiving but the Sim max and standard Maverick are a bit more forgiving than the rest. Maverick more high low and Sim max more heel toe. Basically we need to just get you set up correctly and make sure the shaft and head are set up to minimize your typical miss shot. Let me know if you would like to go through the process.
