Taylormade Tour Preferred MB 2014 iron heads 4-pw -Bought these brand new in the plastic standard L/L. 4/5/7/9 irons still in plastic. $420 obo

Next I have a project x evenflow blue hybrid shaft 85g 6.0 with a titleist adapter. Shaft measures 40” end of grip to tip. Came out of a 3 hybrid. $65 OBO

So these were SSed 2x from factory? Were those grips installed from factory too? I would assume with plastic on heads, the work was done from TM?

EDIT:

NVM, I see little residual ferrule marks on the shafts from what I would assume was from longer ferrules from previous build.

Seriously! I don’t get along with x100s but love the s400s in my wedges. Figured I’d give them a play in a set of irons and get a bomb dropped on me.

How’d you find out it was SS 2x, did you verify through step pattern or pull a grip to verify?

I contacted the seller (not from this website) I bet you can guess from where haha and he told me they were soft stepped twice. I didn’t want to pull the grips because they are brand new. If you have insight to measure the step pattern that would be great and I could verify it without ruining grip.

soft stepping question. Does that mean that a 5I shaft went into a 7I?

Why would you do that? What changes besides the maybe the length?

Yes exactly. I had no idea it was done til after I received them and knew something was off. The length are all standard. The soft stepping process makes the shaft play about 1/3 less of a flex. So in this case it probably plays closer to a normal s300. I have no idea why someone would do this, but my guess is because they wanted to play the “tour issue” shaft.

it is my understanding only difference between s2/3/00’s is weight. People think s400’s are X but just heavy. Its the weight, from 120-126-131 if my memory serves me.

For many years TT shafts were all piled together and cut. So we would have weights all over the place. Now they weigh them and “close enough” ends up in each bin. Tour Issue are more expensive because they are all matching weights.

UPDATED SELLING HEADS ONLY. Shafts are useless, I pulled the 7 iron and there was a 4 iron shaft in it! Mind blowing.
