How much do you pay for golf clubs?

I usually purchase my driver and fairway woods from Callaway Pre-Owned (there are some astonishingly good deals to be had if you shop at the right time, for example, I picked up the Epic Flash fairway woods at $134 a piece in fantastic condition). Irons and wedges I can't buy off eBay, Craigslist or whatever as my specs are +2-inches and 3º upright, so full price for those. :-\

If you were to ask me, I would say a fairly reasonable price...perk of having a friend since we were teenagers working as as Pro. If you were to ask my wife, she would still say that it was too much.

Paid a lot given it was purchased after a fitting and none of the shafts were stock options. However, given I don’t change clubs very often the investment over time and rounds of golf played makes it worthwhile.

I jokingly call myself full retail dude as it is my habit to impulse purchase brand new stuff.

The shaft on my SM6 gap broke on Wednesday so last night I simply headed to the big retailer and bought a 'new' SM7 gap. Didn't give a thought to re-shafting my old wedge.

Financial foolery indeed!

guess im a sucker.. i dont like used stuff esp with driver and irons/wedges. And if i dont like something, ill just toss it on ebay for a small loss. Sometimes a big loss. But i do my best to make sure its gona stay in the bag long enough for me to know if i really like them. The only used clubs that i am willing to buy used are hybrids, driving irons, the in between clubs because they never stay in the bag for long.

For most people, new clubs probably won't be the reason they score better or handicaps lowering because I think a good set of clubs from 10 years ago is still a good set of clubs today. I think most golfers just enjoy having something new and that's the main reason they buy new equipment. If a person wants a lower handicap they need to apply themselves with some instruction and practice, and all of a sudden those old clubs are just as good as the new ones. I enjoy new clubs, but I will never say that they have lowered my score. I have an old Cleveland hibore driver I pulled out of the secondary bag and played it for a while this past summer and it had great results just like my newer Callaway driver I use today. I'm not ragging on people for going and buying new clubs, it's a lot of fun to try new equipment but don't expect better results just because their new clubs, you have to work at that to get it.
