TITLEIST TS Drivers... do they hold up in 2020?

The LTD was probably the best sounding/feeling driver of all time IMO, so I don't want to get your hopes up and say the TS3 is that good. It IS really nice sounding when you flush it, it has that soft, compression-ey, bongo bat sound that makes you feel like you are smushing the insides of the driver together before it springs off the face. It's interesting, after I flush one people will comment on the sound and ask what driver that is, and the only time that ever happened to me before was when I played the LTD. Off-center hits don't sound as well as the LTD, but they perform just as well, definitely better for me (but I was fitted for TS3). These are the 2 longest drivers I have ever played for a sustained period of time (meaning they hit enough fairways to stay in the bag). My Ping G had a good run in between them but I was going through a "forgiveness phase".

The draw bias on the TS3 is only in the CG location relative to heel/toe (TS3 more heelside, LTD Pro dead center), visually the TS3 perfectly neutral in the A1 setting, but Titleist has the best adapter in the game so I am sure you could find something that can open it up slightly to mimic the LTD Pro setting.

The biggest similarity between the two is the CG location on the vertical axis, and front to back. I loved the LTD because the CG was super low and back, so that it balanced spin and forgiveness better than anything else I have found. For whatever reason I don't get along with drivers with high CG (basically all Callaways, M4, M6), or CG too close to the face (SLDR, 2016+17 M1). LTD and TS3 both have the CG super low and back, not as far back as Ping (which is what I stupidly gave up my LTD for), but back enough that you feel really comfortable smashing it and not worrying about where you hit it on the face.

Hope that helps, can't go wrong with either one!

I have never gotten along well with it and it's tough to explain why. It's designed for "aggressive" tempos and while I can change my tempo to suit (I'd say I'm moderate to aggressive but can try to load it pretty hard if I want to), I can't stand the way it feels. Might be a combination of the higher torque (slightly) than the Evenflow White and the different flex profile. At any rate, it feels totally lifeless while also feeling too soft for flex - maybe I just need a bit more weight?. I can normally explain why certain driver shafts don't suit me but I just can't with this one. Maybe I'm just a bit older now and don't load it as aggressively as I think I do. I'm not sure. I'm still seeing my swing speed range between 109mph and 113mph, but maybe my tempo has change just a little.

When the Titleist guy swapped the Smoke Black 60/6.5 for the EvenFlow White 65/6.5... I went from hitting the TS2 decently to hitting it really well. And it felt totally different - both more "life" in the shaft and also far firmer in the hands. I felt I could really trust my swing to protect against the left side, where the Smoke just wanted to snap left on what felt like only slightly poor swings.

Well, finally had to chance to take the big dog and try her out for the first time. My very first swing was a piercing, baby cut. I then continued to rattle off the next twelve balls in the same spot, ever-so-slightly high on the face. Haven't had a chance to take this thing out on the monitor yet, but based off the eye/feel test, I think this combo might be a keeper. (TS3 w/ Ventus Black 6x). I've always considered myself a strong driver of the ball, but was never immune to the occasional toe/heel job... here's to hopefully finding the center of the clubface more in 2020.

Launch monitor doesn't tell the whole story. Too many people get suckered into unforgiving heads because the launch monitor gives a good spin number and some juiced distance numbers. Then they have a love-hate relationship with it in the real world. You want a driver that gives you confidence, sounds and looks good, and gets the ball in play to setup the second shot. I think Titleist hits it out of the park if looking at all categories of consideration.

I have a TS3 8.5* with an Oban Devotion 04 tipped 0.5". I am murdering this club. Best driver I've ever hit.

To be totally honest I just got back in the game after a 7 year hiatus, but nonetheless the TS3 is great.

I bought a 6 gram weight to get the swingweight to my liking and have the weight set to a draw bias. Shaft is set to neutral.

Hit em straight.

Currently battling it out between a TS3 and a Ping G400... The Ping has been a bit of a comfort zone that I came back to after going full circle through a bunch of other drivers. But I have to say, the TS3 is really good. Very forgiving, plenty long and it sounds great. Definitely an upgrade in terms of Titleist's performance from previous models. I will be playing the G400 tomorrow just to get an idea of how they compare as I played the TS3 today, but I am really enjoying everything about the TS3.

Will be out later this morning to start a TS4 v's Flash sub zero tour head test session. TBH on looks i just love the smaller compact TS4 head but we'll see how things check out. Must admit though, i like the Callaway green dot tour adapter allowing changes that keep the grip in the same place.

Have any changed from the TS2 to TS3 and noticed any positive difference? I’m currently gaming the TS2 that I got fitted on Trackman. After playing with it outdoors I feel it’s spinning a bit more and my shots are drifting to the right. I have the TS2 9.5 A-1 in Smoke 6.0 shaft.

I've got a 913D2 fairway finder with the diamania/titlest blue 65g stiff shaft. which I love. D4 setting to add 0.75* loft to the 9.5*.

6.5 index, smooth swinger and transition, high 90's swing speed, carry about 230 yds or so. medium trajectory. My bad is a hook, flip, but rarely with the 913d2, primarily a push with it

What do you recommend for me in the TS line? Thinking TS3.

TS4 is very low spin and a nice compact looking head, but it's too niche imo for most people, and you can easily lose ball speed if you're not super disciplined about center strikes.

TS2 is one of the most forgiving drivers on the market. Very long driver that will keep you in play.

TS3 is like TS4 and TS2 had a baby... nearly as forgiving as the TS2, slightly lower spin, and more adjustable with the weights. I think it's a monster and it's a great feeling club as well. To me the TS3 feels WAY better than other popular non-Titleist offerings.

So if you need a little more spin or have a reasonable spin rate now, I would say TS2 because it's long and very forgiving.

If you want to knock a little spin off, and like a deeper face look, then TS3 all the way. It's a powerful option.

You can not go wrong with the TS line of drivers. They are super legit.

You probably want to try out the TS2. Similar shape, deeper CG, etc. But if you have the chance, hit both of them. The TS3 lets you put more weight towards the toe, helping to offset that miss left.

I'm gaming a TS4 I picked up locally; traded in a 913D2, a few old wedges and some $. Incredible feel and sound. Its not for everyone, and if I put a bad swing on it lets me know. But I'm reaching places on the course I've never seen before. As good as the TS line is, I won't be in any rush to check out the models they come out with next...
