Non Offset mid-handicap irons

I'm on the search for an iron set with some forgiveness but no offset. I've played Cleveland TA3's on and off forever and they're just worn out. The kids are now teenagers so I find myself with a more free time and have got to play pretty consistently over the last few months. I usually miss to the left so an offset iron just exaggerates the situation. Any suggestions? I'm not proud so I would consider anything built in the last 10 years.

Hate to jump on it but I don't really think a "mid handicap" iron really exists. I simply think there are irons that fit and those that don't. If you want to push your game forward I'd consider something small like a Titleist T100. Very little offset. Srixon 5 and 7 series are great too.

Offset isn't going to make you hit the ball left, or "give the clubface more time to close" as the myth goes. Now if it just doesn't jive with your eyes and is harder to line up, then that's a different story. That said, it seems like most clubs that offer some help tend to rely less on offset nowadays to help boost launch. If you haven't spent money on irons in a long time and are considering getting fit/treating yourself, I would be all over the new Srixon ZX5s. Beautiful looking clubs, and more importantly well regarded for offering precision and help on mishits. If you're looking for a deal, any 5-series Srixon Z model would do as well as Mizuno JPX Forged series. Best of luck.

Yeah, I hit big high draws with blades and stripe offset GI irons straighter and often lower. Play what works.

I finally replaced my Cleveland TA-3s at the beginning of last year. I went with Cobra Forged Tours. Very easy transition and more of an increase in forgiveness than I was expecting.

If you aren't opposed to strong lofts & don't care if the club feels forged, check out the Honma 747p irons. Very little offset for a GI iron. I struggled with the offset in my Apex CF16s for years, but loved the way they felt.

The 747Ps are just the opposite. Love the lack of offset, but they don't feel anywhere near as nice as the CF16s.

In the end, I decided performance trumps feel.

Less offset on the TaylorMade M5 than many of the irons listed here. It’s an often overlooked and excellent mid-handicap iron that is not replicated in the SIM lineup, all of which are larger heads. A lot of player’s iron attributes with forgiveness across the face.

+1 re JDM irons (e.g. Miura, Fourteen, Honma (e.g. 7x7"v-series" /non-P-suffix) = typically less offset.@deejaid had mentioned "Arias True Zero Offset" irons. I still play the persimmons but I got a set of Hogan PTx Pro/ Icon combo’s and a set of Titleist 620 CB on the way so the Arias got moved. Very nice quality club though.
