Would you pay $750 or more for a shaft? Autoflex

It’s easier to tilt the axis when the backspin vector component of spin is lower.

Have seen tons of people who hit it relatively straight but a little shorter, driver spin too high. They chase distance and lower spin, magically start spraying it

You mind explaining that backspin vector to me?

Anyone else old enough to remember the FiberSpeed 2000?  The marketing claims were similar.  Breakthrough material, uniflex, would lead to longer and straighter results for any swing at any speed.  They even had infomercials for them, possibly even with a 'three easy payments' plan?  Can't remember the exact pricing, but it was several times as expensive as the ProLites and EI-70s of the day.

Anyway, I picked one up for cheap in a used club bin, installed in a J's Professional Weapon driver.  Low and behold I was longer and straighter than I ever dreamed possible, and I played it until it splintered apart.  I was around a +2 at the time, so there was something more to it than just dumb luck too.

So never say never.  Would I pay $750 for one?  Sure why not.....but only if I could hit it against my current gamer first, or if it came with some sort of 30 day trial period.  It's waaaaaaay easier to get dialed into a good driver/shaft combo now, compared to back when J's Professional Weapons walked the earth.

It's interesting for sure. 950,000 KRW which is over $800USD seems like a lot but it's really not that much when you compare to "premium" golf equipment they make in Korea or Japan that doesn't make it over to US and European market.

On their website, it says under "Stability," even though golfers' swing speeds differ, [the shaft] automatically delivers force in the most optimal way.

I don't think DUMINA's intent with AUTO FLEX is purely and 100% about distance, but more with the way the shaft delivers the clubhead. Purely my opinion from the few reviews/marketing claims that I've seen. It seems like the AUTO FLEX is designed to help you hit the ball center more consistently.

Funny how people are tossing the idea of the shaft because it's expensive and "only adds 10-15 yards" without even trying it...

If it did actually work, this would be bad for golf - at least for a while. A shaft that truly delivered 15 more yards AND was more accurate would get snapped up by lots of guys and I think it would end up forcing up the price of drivers. You would have players that could afford it and those that could not.

You already have this in golf.  Not many can drop the coin on the HD TP lines, the 125 Rogue was $800 when released and was all the rage, so this isn't really anything new, just from a relative unknown company, so brings with it skepticism.  It will be interesting as more get their hands on it to further validate the initial findings so far.  Personally, because I can, sure I could buy it, would I, who knows as I'm also cheap and look for deals because I like to flip things.

The difference is I am not convinced the rogue (or the like) provides anywhere near the hypothetical gains of this shaft.

I play a higher end shaft right now. It has been good value as I suspect I will wear it out before I need a new one. It was a better fit than stock options, but nothing too dramatic.

They didn't in terms of distance, for me when I got my hands on one years later, it did tighten up dispersion for me.  Would still play it but I've dropped down to the low to mid 60 X/TX weight range and had the 70 TX.

I had a Nunchuk for awhile as well, that thing was interesting to say the least, but that experiment didn't last long.

Of course the hypothetical we are talking about is really a magic shaft. Zero chance it exists now or will ever.

I heard the Autoflex shaft paired with the Hammer X driver.....an additional 35 yards always center cut ......and the cart girl gives you free beer. I still wouldn't buy it
